Jon

Jon has always been watching out for his little sister. Tovi thinks that she can convince Jon to see just how terrible her husband will be. Maybe he'll help her by with a distraction or even convince her parents to call off the match. With the right words and a lip quiver she might be able to get a simple pair of boots from him.

Jon has one of the only pairs in the house, only used when trekking up the steep slopes of Mt. Noar. There are still a few tribes of wild goats and on occasion they can hunt one down. Most of the others have been worn to the point of oblivion. Nobody knows how to preserve the goat hide so no new footwear has been made for thirty years.

Her brother is busy pulling weeds from the potatoes when Tovi approaches him.

"Hey Jon..." she starts off in a classic 'I need a favor from you' voice. "Can I talk to ya about somethin'?"

Something was her key word for when she needed him to keep a secret. It's a sibling thing.

"Sure, Tovi" He says as he sits down on his backside and takes a quick breather, waiting for his sister to continue.

"Ye'know... I don wanna get married. Not yet." She gauges his reaction and continues when he doesn't look startled. "I'm gonna leave the house. Go out. Explore. See what or who else is out there." She gesticulates to the open air while getting herself more excited at the prospect. Saying the words out load, although in a hushed conversation, is exhilarating. Jon continues to wait, suspecting that more was coming. "And I can't do that as HIS plaything." Tovi makes a less than stealthy sidelong glare at the boy in question. "I need yer help to get away, pleeease. It'd be the last thing I ever ask of ya", she makes her case.

Jon frowns as he takes the request in. There is an inner turmoil between what he thinks is right and what he wants for his sister. But when he looks into Tovi's eyes he struggles to voice his complaints and ends up complacently agreeing to her plan. They discuss the methods at length and Tovi comes to a peculiar choice. The first option is a simple distraction. Jon will approach their father about forming a special hunt for live goat. There should be a feast at the wedding and capturing a goat could provide milk and fresh meat for the day of festivities. This option would get most of the capable people away from the house and provide cover for escape. The second option is the same as the first but with a favor from Tovi.

Jon has a voyeur streak that Tovi is well aware of. What she didn't know was that his wife was the one who spurred it. The two had whispered about the possibility of being intentionally watched before, from start to finish, but neither had the gumption to ask someone. The thought of living together with the observer after the deed was an embarrassing obstacle that Tovi might be the solution to, if she leaves. Helping Jon and his wife with that fantasy will not only net Tovi with a distraction but Jon agrees to give her the boots as a thank you.
