Out of Verdant Cavern and into Route 3

Outside, Illima waits for you. "Good to see you again," greets Illima, "As you travel through the islands of Alola, you will sometimes see captains' barricades that prevent you from progressing. They mark boundaries where you can encounter strong Pokemon. Ordinary people can go through them if they have a strong Trainer to protect him or her, but since you cleared my trial, feel free to explore the route." He then brings out a remote and presses a button on it and the barricade parts ways to allow you to go.

"I am only captain here, so you are done with the Melemele Island trials, which means you must now talk to the kahuna about giving you passage to the other islands," says Illima. Just then, Professor Kukui shows up. "Hey," greets Kukui, "With Illima's expression on his face, I assume you finished his trial, yeah? Well, since you have a Z-crystal, I might as well show you its power. Just get a compatible Z-Crystal from your bag and give it to one of your Pokemon, as long as it knows a move of the same type as the crystal. Have them hold Z-Crystals to dominate battles, and you can use it on as many Pokemon as you want."

"Now, let me show you its devastation," says Kukui as he enters the tall grass.

"Awesome, right?" says Kukui, "Unfortunately, you can only use 1 Z-Power move per battle." He then suddenly remembers about something. "Oh oops, I forgot about Lillie on Route 3. Let's find her together, shall we, [insert player name]?"

"I'll check my cave in case she wandered there," says Illima.

And with that, they both go their seperate ways with you following Kukui into Route 3. A man warns you about Pokemon shadows, as you could encounter wild bird Pokemon that way. There is a fork in the road, you can either go through a couple of Trainers and an optional place to get more Pokemon, or go through the flying Pokemon.
