The wandering mercenary

You didn't see much of a reason to change your current policy of never staying at the same place for too long, it worked so far so why shouldn't it now? Having decided to work as a mercenary of sorts you now had only to set on your first goal. You could check in town for some work or leave for somewhere else to work there. It was pretty clear that for the longer travels you'd need more food and better equipment than your current set of everyday wear, so leaving already wouldn't bring much of an advantage.

Arriving at the local Pub you ordered a Pint of beer at the bar, which you got a few seconds later. Taking a sip you make your way to the blackboard at the back of the main room where most jobs of the town were listed. There were quite a few offers with varying levels of difficulty, and, of course, payment. Two of the flyers in specific caught your interest as they seemed to fit your current situation quite well.

The first was a basic escort mission. A local merchant who ha heard of the recent bandit attacks on the surrounding cities and is scared about being attacked on his way to magnolia. Your job would be to come along and, if someone looks for trouble, teach them a lesson. "Sounds simple enough." you think, and it is, but it would give you the advantage of easy money and a paid trip to Magnolia, which would open up a lot of possibilities in terms of work.

The second job sounds a bit more challenging, but would also increase your renown! It has been issued by the mayor himself and carries the official seal of the city. That would mean you were sure to be paid and if you're lucky enough get more where that came from. The mission would be quite simple. Find the Bandit chief behind the recent attacks, capture him, and bring him to the authorities. From what you've heard that guy is a tough one and would certainly offer a challenge, especially when you have to capture him.
