Two days later, Katie was juggling groceries on one hip, and her laundry on the other when her phone started buzzing in her back pocket. She dumped the laundry on her couch, the bras and panties spilling out in messy mound, and reached for her phone.

"Hello?"

Katie dropped the sack of groceries on the table that straddled the line between the kitchen tile and scruffy carpet of the living room, cradling the phone against her ear with her shoulder.
