Chapter 30 by velios

What do you tell her?

Lie as much as you can

The thought of telling Miss Locke the whole story is too humiliating to bear, and might give her...ideas. Instead, you decide on a simplified story that, while still embarrassing, is as good as you're going to get to explain why someone left a phone number on your ass.

"While I was sneaking home yesterday, a couple older girls... caught me and threatened to call the cops if...I-I didn't hold still for them. They wrote that on me as a joke I think...it's probably not even their number."

Without too many details, it's not too hard to come up with a decent lie, though you still have to pause a few times to get the whole story out.

Miss Locke hums doubtfully, then removes a cellphone from her pocket: it's yours. Peering back, you can see her start to dial the number written on your backside, and you go slightly pale. Miss Locke gives you no chance to protest either, calmly warning you to "talk naturally to whoever is on the other side. Don't try to end the call or let them know you're not alone...unless you want the school's security team seeing you streaking."

You swallow nervously as Miss Locke finishes dialing the number, turns up the volume, and holds it near to your ear as it rings. A few moments later, you hear Officer Meadows' voice on the other end, sounding professional as if she's not aware who's calling.

"Officer Meadow speaking."

What do you say?
