John let Emily borrow some of his clothes and they both got dressed and went downstairs. The house was remarkably clean. And remarkably empty, everyone must have left already. John's suspicions were confirmed when he walked into the kitchen and saw all the goodbye notes (and penises and curse words) his friends left on the refrigerator's whiteboard. Seeing a pan of scrambled eggs and a plate of bacon set aside on the counter, John fixed Emily and himself a plate.

Sitting down next to each other, John started scarfing down his food as Emily just sat there.
