"I'm sorry" you say, "I love my wife. I don't want to divorce her."
Mr. Milton lowers his head and sighs. "That's a shame. I really thought you had what takes." He pats you on the back sternly, almost aggressively. "We'll consider this your two weeks notice. You have two weeks to change your mind."
What a horrible day this has turned out to be, you think. You go back to the party, meet up with Nora, and give her a hug and a kiss.
Over the next week you watch your lovely wife. She's 45 years old, and has aged gracefully into maturity.. She's still incredibly pretty to you, tall with short brown hair, long legs still toned, a nice body. You feel like you made the right decision.
And you sit at the dinner table and watch your daughter Kelly quietly eat spaghetti. A bookish girl in her last year of high school, she looks so much like her mother, same brown hair but longer, and glasses. She's always been a good kid. And she looks up to both of you. What would she have done if you'd followed Mr. Milton's instruction? Been beyond confused, probably.
Nora loves you. And Kelly loves you.
Within a couple days you're certain you've made the right choice, and you stomp up to Mr. Milton's office to tell him that you don't need 2 weeks. You're choosing family over wealth right now!
But Mr. Milton isn't in. Nor is he in the next day. "Just come back in 2 weeks when you have an appointment" His secretary says.
So you wait, impatiently to tell Mr. Milton that his promises of wealth and depravity can't shake the bonds of your family. And finally the two weeks comes to an end and Mr. Milton is ready to see you.
You burst through his office door. "Know what sir? I want to tell you that..."
You're interrupted by his laughing. "Good news! Great news! Better news than I could have possibly imagined!" He says. You have no idea what he's talking about. But he goes on. "She's a slut. She's a huge unapologetic slut."
You're completely taken by surprise. You have no idea what he's talking about so you ask. "What are you talking about, sir? Who are you talking about?"
