Back to town

You and Wendy go back to town to get your van and add a few tools to the collection you already have in the van. You go back with Wendy to *fix* Wendy's car. The cops are still there but you go straight to the car and have Wendy unlock the car and release the hood. You go straight to the battery and act like you are tightening it. You have Wendy try to start it and it starts. Most of the cops are too astonished to see through your ruse. Deputy Brown isn't but knows you and lets it go. A state patrol tried to press Wendy some but was stopped by a sheriff's deputy who knows who her dad is. Her dad is a senior officer at the bank. He gave that deputy a loan a few years back, a loan that no one else would.

Deputy Brown asks you why you are out here with this girl. You realize that your mind thing hasn't worked since you got up. You tell him (loud enough for several other law officers to hear) that Wendy was out here early last night, studying the lake ecosystem with you and Jon, for a school project. Her car wouldn't start and you all left in Jon's truck. Jon's truck is new and he doesn't keep any tools in it. You thought it was the battery connection and you were right. You tell him he can check with Jon Smith.

"That alright, Kevin. I've known you a long time and I know that Wendy and Jon are upstanding young citizens." He knows this is all bull shit but likes you and respects their parents. He and Bobby's dad are lifelong friends and as long as the Feds aren't involved or you kill someone, he looks the other way on your teenage shenanigans. He knows that Wendy is a shy and studious girl and wonders if you are more than friends. "Your parents will want you home for Sunday dinner, so run along, before you are late." Brown says as you and Wendy leave.
