Chapter 7
by Anonegg
Where did the little twerp leave their paper?
Under her father's car
She couldn't believe it. Her father's car was parked in the driveway; a big SUV to carry the entire family around in. Underneath the car, close to the rear wheels, was the newspaper. The loose pages of it flapped in the breeze.
"Terrible aim, that boy." Mr Anderson commented.
"I'll say." Valerie muttered to herself.
Hoping to preserve some of her modesty, Val walked around to the other side of the car so that it shielded her from Mr Anderson's view. She lowered herself onto the asphalt, laying the front of her body down onto it, and extended her arm underneath the car. It didn't reach; it couldn't, she knew, but she had to try. She pushed herself into the side of the car, so that her bare torso was pressed up against it, and tried to stretch as hard as she could. The hard edges of the car dug into her skin, and her only reward was a fleeting flicker of paper touching the very tip of her finger. It was no good. She was going to have to go from the other side.
Her body protested a dozen minor aches as she climbed to her feet. Where the car had pressed into her side a thin red line had remained; not a cut, but a painful indent nonetheless. A few small stones also clung to the front of her; she easily brushed these away, but the tiny points of pain remained. With a sigh, she made her way to the other side of the car.
"No luck, then?" Mr Anderson asked.
"Not yet." Val replied.
"I thought it looked closer to this side anyway. Hard to see from here, though."
Valerie muttered to herself "You probably won't have a problem seeing this."
Not wanting to lie down on the asphalt again, this time Valerie lowered herself to her knees and sat back on her heels. It suddenly dawned on her that she'd done this with her ass facing Mr Anderson - it probably would have been better to aim her backside towards the house. But that meant a lot of painful re-shuffling, and she just wanted to get this over with and get back to the safety of her home. Ignoring her modesty, she raised her ass up into the air as her upper half lowered itself underneath the car. She felt like she was losing her balance, so she spread her knees a little wider. She dreaded to think of what kind of show she was putting on. She hurriedly snatched up the errant paper, climbed to her feet and brushed herself off.
"Ow." she said with a grimace. She looked down at herself. Other than the red line the car had left, her body was covered in a dozen tiny sore spots left by the loose stones in the driveway.
"You know," Mr Anderson commented "The paperboy only lives a few houses down. If you went to speak to his parents and showed them a few of those welts I'm sure they'd sort their boy out."
"Like this? I'm not so sure..."
"It might finally get that menace to start treating his job with a little bit more respect. The neighbourhood would appreciate it, you know."
Does Valerie go speak to the boy's parents? Or does she head back inside?
