It took you some time until Sophie's thoughts dawned upon you. "You want use the letter to **** the women to become whores in Sam's pub?"

"We could send them to Sam's pub. However we could also open our own brothel as our whores would be covered by the law. Any persons chosen by you have the right to bed the bride after all." Sophie explained with enthusiasm.

You were looking at the letter contemplating Sophie's words, "I can give people the right to bed the bride. However I don't think it is the spirit of the law to make them whores."

"Aw, don't think too much Garrick. The Scots could protest to you but you as their lord would decide the cases. Nobody could fault you for following the law by the letters." Sophie replied and seeing that you are still not fully convinced she inquired, "Garrick, you have been the lord of these lands for half a month now. What is the financial situation. How are your revenues?"

"Actually I have no revenues at all. Right now I use the money in the treasury to feed my serfs and hiring day-workers. I thought we need to care for their basic needs first before we take money from them. Also I have my own expenses for maintaining this estate and pay the guards." you tell her truthfully.

"So in short you are having a deficit in earnings. How long do you think you can keep this up?" she asked.

"With the money in the treasury about a month, with my personal savings another month. Maybe three months at most if we spend carefully. I've hoped that we could collect toll from merchants and travelers after we have more people living in our settlements and once the roads are save again." you answered.

"While these are good and valid long term plans you still need money first to cover your expenses. You won't be able to feed your serfs without money, you won't be able to hire workers and all the guards will leave your service without pay. These women should be honored to be able to work for the greater good of your lands." Sophie determined.

You were now somewhat swayed by Sophie's arguments seeing the logic behin her words.
