Chapter 15
by Corruptor
What have you gotten yourself into?
A little information first
"I'm so glad to finally meet you," Samantha smiles.
"I'm sorry," you say slowly, "I think there has been a mistake. I really don't deserve to--"
"There has been no mistake," the CEO interrupts. "We at Helios filtered through all responses to our contest from within a one week period. Naturally, as I believe you assume, one winner had to have completed our challenge. However, an additional winner was chosen based on that person's traits and personal attributes."
You are starting to feel even more uncomfortable. Hugging your arms around your chest, you ask, "so why me?" What makes me special, then. My grades suck, and I'm killing my time by getting drunk, waiting for my 21st birthday."
"We are not interested in your grades." Samantha leans forward. "In fact, your friction with the college system is what set you apart. You see, every other submission was from a successful student. You actually stood out because, not only was your response submitted while drunk," she smiles, "it was clever."
"Wait, really?" You find it hard to believe that drunk you could be 'clever'."
"Well, you were not academically clever, but we appreciated your outside-the-box approach. Why fix the problem with the ****, when it is possible to find a test population that is receptive to the current state of the ****. Then you can cross-reference...the point is that you have an uncannily creative mind. A mind we would like to help us here."
Are you being offered a job? What do you say?
