Starting the trip

Delaying the whole trip and taking the carriage was out of the question. However seeing Lili's adorable look resting on you, you did not want to disappoint her either. You put your right hand out to her, "Come Lili, let us ride together."

Lili happily took your hand and you pulled her up the saddle. She kissed you on your cheek as she wispered her thanks.

Alan the head of your guards witnessing the scene said, "My admiration milord. Not a full day has passed and you've already gained the affection of this pretty kitten."

You blushed a little as you saw the grinning faces of your men while ordering them to start the march.

You and Niall were riding in front of the small column with a slow speed. You wanted to go easy on your horse, but also because the soil of the road was softened and slippery. Niall was right, progressing in a carriage would have been impossible.

Lili gently stroked your horse's mane, "I've always loved horses. It must feel wonderful to ride on one across these vast fields and hills."

"Lili, I could teach you how to ride a horse if you want to learn it." you offered and she was beaming.

After riding about ten minutes you arrived at the first settlement. Lili asked you for your permission to visit an old friend called Murron and you saw her running off as soon as you enter the settlement.

Your men drummed the residents up, ordering them to gather at the meeting place in the settlement center. As you waited for your serfs to gather, you noticed that most were women, children and the elderly. There were barely young men and some of them were ill, injured or even outright handicapped. You could make out Lili standing with some girls and she waved at you cheerfully.
