Dinner at a high class seafood place

It's a good thing the restaurant is nearby. Dani keeps crossing and uncrossing her slender, sexy legs, driving Chad to distraction. Despite the terrific sex they had earlier Chad still has to surreptitiously tuck away his erection before getting out of the car.

Dani gets the maître d's attention and they're quickly whisked off to a table. It's not far from the kitchen, but on such short Chad doubts he could have managed to get an overturned packing crate outside. Dani sits up straight, the dress helping to show off her lovely breasts. One or two of the other men in the room sneak quick glances at her. She can't possibly see them, but she seems to bask in the attention none the less.

After the waitress arrives and takes orders for drinks and some appetizers Dani smiles conspiratorially and whispers, "All these girls in their tight black skirts, swishing from table to table. You can look, you know."

"Dani, I could barely keep my eyes off you on the road. They may be nice, but you're... tonight you're something else."

The drinks arrive in a flash and Dani gives him the cutest little smile as she sips hers.

Chad leans forward slightly. "I think the waitresses are a little jealous. You came in here, sat down and ordered a drink. That's all, but half the men in this restaurant are looking your way."

"Mmmm, so you are looking? Well you might like to know some of the girls are checking you out too."

They've spent so much time together recently that Chad is wracking his brain trying to think of something to say. Dani stares at her drink and fights to keep the stress she's feeling off her face. 'I can't screw this up - this has to be perfect, tonight has to be perfect!' she keeps thinking to herself.

The waitress comes back, delivering the appetizers and a break from the silence. They both start to feel like it's a first date. All through the appetizers, all through the lobster, everything is under tension. Chad manages to ask about Dani's jewelry and her dress, she asks about work and his car.

By the time the main course ends Chad is thinking that things are starting to feel normal again. Dani, on the other hand, is trying not to tremble and is fighting back a fear grin.

The rich chocolate desserts do help to de-stress her and as her spoon hits the plate she thinks, 'Now or never. No... forget never. NOW!'

Chad is just finishing his last bite when Dani pulls out a little felt covered box from her purse. She scoots out of her chair and goes down on one knee. "Chad DeMoss, will you marry me?"

He's so stunned that it takes a few seconds for Chad to respond. Dani's heart is going 200 beats a minute and she's not breathing. At last Chad's Adam's apple bobs and he says, "Yes! Yes, of course I do!" and scoops her up into his arms. Dani kisses him, then goes limp.

When her eyes flutter open she's sitting on his chair, Chad and half the restaurant looking at her. She smiles, somehow managing to look shy and sheepish despite the form-fitting red dress.

"I took care of the bill while you were out," Chad tells her. "Now there's just one more thing to do." He looks into her eyes and she feels a cool band of metal sliding over her ring finger. "Wait, it's sized for you," she mumbles, still regaining her senses.

"Not this one," Chad replies. Dani looks down to see a lovely golden ring with a deep blue stone.

"And you even, sniff, remembered, sniff, how much I love sapphires, sniff!"

Anything else she was going to say disappears in a kiss and would have been muffled by the cheers from the restaurant's clientele in any case. There are dozens of photos and a ton of congratulations. Dani's fainting spell drew a lot of attention, particularly from women out on dates with their own boyfriends.

When they finally get back to the car Chad gives Dani a long, tight hug while she laughs and wiggles her legs triumphantly.

"How long have you had this ring?" Dani asks, staring at the way the sapphire reflects light from the streetlamps.

"Almost a month now," Chad replies. He looks down at the gold and silver patterned ring on his own finger. "You?"

"I got your finger size a while ago, but I only got this today. Just spur of the moment."

"Well you're smarter than me. You used it right away instead of keeping it in a pocket, always waiting for the right time."

Dani gives Chad another kiss. "But you did use it at the right time," she says, eyes twinkling. "We both had rings, we both wanted this. I don't know how I'm going to tell my parents or, well, anyone. And I don't care!"
