You decide that the best way to get her to say yes to you is make things as comfortable as possible for her. “If you don’t mind, “you say, “I’ll come over to your place.”

“Sure thing John,” she replies, “I’ll see you soon. Bye”

You say good-bye and hang up the phone. Well, the first step is done. That wasn’t too bad. You grab your coat and car keys and, after a quick look in the mirror, head out the door.

You decide that you should probably pick something up. You have a hard timed deciding exactly what to get. Flowers have too much of a romantic connotation for your offer of straight sex. You arrive at a department store and find yourself wandering the aisles. You think to yourself, “Damn, this is a tough one. I want to get her in a good mood but not make it seem like I am wooing her.” You eventually decide on a bottle of wine. If nothing else the liquor might help ease the tension.

You drive over to Janet’s modest house on the edge of town. You take a deep breath and knock on the front door. She opens the door and gives you a warm smile, “Hi John. Come in, come in.”

You walk inside and hang up your coat. She shows you into the living room and she sits down on the sofa. You sit in a chair across from her. She says, “Well, are you going to tell me what all the mystery is about now? What’s so important that you can’t talk about it over the phone.”

“Um, well…” You start to stammer. Janet is looking at you with curiosity. You decide the best thing to do is to just say it. “Janet, what I’m about to ask you may seem kind of strange. I want you to know that however you answer it’s not going to affect our relationship at work in any way. Rachel and I recently broke up…”

”Oh, I’m sorry, I didn’t know.” Janet says with sympathy.

“Thank you,” you respond and then continue, “Well, it was very sudden and she said a lot of the usual break-up things. She said one thing that I had never heard before though. It’s foolish of me to get so worked up about it, but I’ve always known…or at least I thought I have always known, and it’s been driving me crazy the last few days.”

“Always know what?” asks Janet.

You realize that you’ve been avoiding the subject. You shake your had and look her directly in the eyes. “I have always been able to tell if a woman is faking an orgasm with me or not. It’s one of the ways I decide if I’m going to be in a serious relationship with a woman. If she can’t be honest with me in bed, I don’t want to be her.”

Janet looks surprised. “Well, uh, I guess….I’m sorry John, but why are you telling me this?”

“Rachel said that she had faked all of her orgasms. If she was telling the truth, then I didn’t know it. Janet, I have to know if I can still tell. I want to….” You pause and take a deep breath, “I want to have sex with you and see if I can bring you orgasm. I want to know if I’m losing my touch.”

Janet looks stunned. She blinks several times and tries to speak, but it seems as if she is at a loss for words.

You quickly add, “I’m asking you because I’ve always trusted you to be honest with me. I respect your opinions and your insight. You can throw me out of your house if you want, I won’t hold it against you.”

Janet asks, “You’re serious about this?”

“Yes I am.”

“Oh John. This is all so sudden…” She trails of and seems to think about it.

You take the silence as a good sign, she could have just screamed at you to get out of the house. Your instincts about her being attracted to you were probably right.

She seems to be weighing options in her mind. You think, “Maybe I should offer her something, a pay raise or an expense account. She might take offense to that however. I could try to talk to her some more, convince her to go along with it somehow… still, silence may be my best option here….”
