Chapter 4 by Frank89 Frank89

What happens next?

Landing

As her ship reached orbit, it signalled for pilot. With a heavy sigh, the lazy 'pilot' reluctantly put away the crossword she'd been working on for the last hour or so, and took control of the ship with a yawn. As she looked out of the cockpit, the big blue planet captivated her. She couldn't help but acknowledge the Azura's beauty. It was going to be a long day, but at that moment she felt that her visit to Azura could maybe turn out fun.

BOOM!

"What the..." she felt herself being pushed into her seat as the ship shook heavily.

Attack? No. Some kind of turbulence? She checked the panels in front of her. Everything seemed to be in order. She had just entered Azura's gravitational field. Apparently, that stuff about "harder to move and jump" was no joke. Even despite the safety thrusters, she could feel her ship descending more rapidly than usually. And she could already feel her arms getting heavier as she started the landing procedure.

Within minutes of rapid descending, she could see the outlines of the enormous city. It looked like a giant pizza floating on a shimmering blue table. She had to admit, it had a certain appeal. It also made her stomach rumble. Stupid diet...

"Azura flight control hailing GX Shann-0N in orbit of the planet. Please respond." came a man's voice through the comlink.

"That's GX Shann-on!" she corrected sassily. "I have booked Docking Bay... where was it..." she searched for the post-it note among a big pile of junk, "... ah, A4 for my arrival." she held the piece of paper triumphantly.

"GX Shann-0N, you have clearance to land in A4."

"That's still GX Shann-on!" she groaned. Everyone kept ignoring that the ship's name and its model spelled 'Shannon' perfectly. It took her a lot of time and money to find this model, and she was not about to be ignored. That would mean all that effort had been in vain.

"Whatever..."

"Can you beam the ship into my Bay? " she asked.

"There is basically no air traffic at the moment. And all Bays have pretty wide entrances."

"Yeah... well... I am busy at the moment." she stammered as she glanced at the unfinished crossword on top of other junk. "Isn't it part of your duty to safely land ships?" she reasoned cheekily.

A huge sigh, then "GX Shann-0N is being beamed into Docking Bay A4..." came through the comlink.

Asshole ignored the name again. Whatever... Shannon could feel the beam slowly pulling her ship into the docking bay. Parking was one of those things she hated doing. Not because she was bad at it (yes she was). She just never saw the point of doing it slowly (or following straight lines). But hey, that's what beams were for, right? (Wrong, they were for emergencies...)

As she stood up from her comfy seat, she could immediately feel the new gravity affecting her body. It felt like she was about 40 pounds heavier. About 10 on each of her limbs. Moving was no small feat. She could imagine how running or doing any kind of sports must have felt like. Not impossible, but definitely something that would take a lot of strength and getting used to. Fortunately, she only needed to meet up with Jorah and then be on her merry way. Ideally, on the trail of some criminal that woud make her famous.

She stood before her wardrobe to see if the clothes she had prepared for the oh-so-hot Azura would suffice. She already knew to dress lightly, but she still planned on keeping her professional look. She couldn't dress too womanly. Well, not that she'd had any really womanly clothes either. She had always been more of a tomboy.

That was how she landed in her current outfit. Tight jeans with brown high heeled leather boots, and her blaster holstered on her hip. She was wondering if she would need it at all. Up top, she had on a white shirt, with the sleeves rolled up. Light enough. Her hair was in a regular ponytail. Of course, she never went anywhere without her trademark shades. Her job usually required her to watch people that didn't like being watched, so shades were a perfect disguise. And she had gotten used to them over the years. Made her look like a badass. She looked at her badge. She contemplated whether to wear it or not, but eventually she slipped it inside her pocket. She was just meeting a contact. She didn't need to walk into crime scenes. She checked herself in the mirror. She looked OK. Professional enough to be taken seriously, but womanly enough so that she wouldn't have to rely on wits alone. She missed her dark brown leather jacket, though. Not only did it give her a more serious look, it hid her blaster well. Not that it was totally out of place, she just liked it better when people didn't immediately preceive her as a threat. But due to the supposed hotness of Azura, she decided against taking it. Once she felt the magnet locks attach to the hull, she walked up to the hatch and opened it.

What is Azura like?
