Demi Lovato had considered herself an underdog all of her life, and in the competition for Favorite Female Artist and Favorite Pop Artist, she certainly considered herself one.

She struggled with whether or not to take part in the online contest, though, because while the thought of doing whatever she had to do to prove herself to a random guy was something her younger, ****-addicted self would have done, she wasn't so sure she wanted any part of it now, and especially since she was so in love with her boyfriend Wilmer Valderrama.

"I have to do something to try and sway people away from Sel and Tay and cast their vote for me," she told herself as she scanned some of the contest entries, finally deciding to make at least one personal appeal and see what happened.

When you're browsing your inbox one day and see the e-mail from someone claiming to be Demi Lovato, you almost junk it, since you barely even remembered entering the contest by that point.

But one quick read through it and you're satisfied it isn't a hoax, which prompts you to write out a very quick response requesting Demi call you to set up a more formal meeting between the two of you.

And it didn't take too long for Demi to meet your request, either.
