A Technician needs a sample

Skye's nose woke her up.

She turned and sat up, already knowing that she'd find Hoshi in the lab. Sure enough there the pretty asian lab tech was, fully decked out in her bulky hazmat suit as she prepared to enter the quarantine. There were three different lab techs who performed the tests, all of them female, and yet for some reason Sky could tell the difference between them by smell alone usually from the far side of the lab, sometimes before they'd even entered the lab. Which made absolutely no sense. There was no way she could smell anything from beyond the sealed space of this room.

Was she going crazy? Or was it worse and she had some strange alien sensory apparatus taking over her nose?

As Hoshi stepped into the room, Skye did her best not to look like an alien imposter or that she was on the verge of crying. Which was actually true, she realized with no small amount of surprise. The depression that was never very far beneath the surface suddenly felt weaker and there was almost a sliver of upbeat spirit that really had no place existing at the moment.

Still, she'd take what she could get as Hoshi gave her a somewhat nervous smile, “Good morning, Skye.”

“Hey, Hoshi. No alien autopsy today?”

“Don't joke about that! And you're not an alien. Just because your DNA has been changed-well, its too soon to know what it means.” she spoke with uncharacteristic vehemence and Skye could see her cheek dimple in embarrassment through her faceplate. Clearly trying to continue in a more professional manner, Hoshi said, “Okay now, the usual tests.”

Skye smiled faintly and let the lab tech do her thing. Her awareness of Hoshi's scent was growing stronger and she tried to ignore it but it was hard. For some reason that smell in her nostrils was sending a little thrill of excitement through her and she had no idea why.

SCENE BREAK

Hoshi Sato did her best to focus on her tasks and ignore her body's unseemly reaction to Sky's extra limb. She told herself it was only natural to be a bit awestruck by it. Skye frowned, “Fluid sample. What do you mean?”

“I'm sorry. I was being needlessly vague uh....that would be...a sample of your semen. Sorry.”

Hoshi looked pained as she opened her mouth but Skye spoke up before she could, “Oh gross. You want to make sure I don't spew acid or have weird alien sperms that impregnate people with chest-bursters, right?”

The med tech looked aghast, “What?! No, Skye! Its just procedure! Nothing like that has happened to you. We just need to know everything we can if we're going to help you. Now. There's two ways we can do this. One of them involves this.”

Now it was Skye's turn to recoil as Hoshi showed her a syringe with a very long needle, “HOLY GOD! The other way. Please, the other way!”

Hoshi smiled and held up a small plastic cup and Skye's stomach dropped all over again.

“You're kidding me...”
