Plan Derailment

The next day passed quickly. Only Casey knew about my plan to leave when she came into my rooms and saw the suitcases. She tried to stop me but no matter how much convincing, she couldn't change my mind. I made her promise to not tell anyone about my plans which she reluctantly agreed.

However, as I was about to eat my last breakfast before leaving for the airport, I got a phone call from the airline. They told me that something went wrong with the flight and it landed in England rather than New York.

"How can you mess the route up that badly?" I asked myself.

The airline gave me two choices: either get a full refund or opt for a flight next week. Of course, I have no business being in New York anymore so I decided for the next week flight.

"Great. Another week in this depressing place." I told myself. I told Casey about the change in plans and she seemed happy that I was gonna stay another week. I avoided Sarah like the plague during the rest of the time. I was not ready to meet her, again.

Eventually, my parents found out about my plan because they checked my credit cards and saw a huge amount of money billed for the flight. This led to Emma and Harry knowing.

"WHAT ARE YOU DOING LEAVING!?" yelled Emma when she bursted in my room. "YOU PROMISED TO BE THERE FOR MY WEDDING!"

"I'm sorry." was all I could reply. I kept my head down, knowing I disappointed her. I waited for Emma to leave but she didn't. Suddenly, I heard sniffling. I looked up and saw Emma looking back at me with tears running down her face. Her lips quivered as we made eye contact.“you...promised” she whispered. The sight nearly broke my heart.

"I'm the reason I made my baby sister cry." I told myself. Feeling incredibly guilty, I got up and hugged my sister. She hugged me back and we embraced for a few minutes. Her tears soaked my shirt and I closed my eyes.

"...please don't leave..." she whimpered.
