Chapter 5
What do they say about well laid plans? Does something go wrong picking up Murphy's order?
With Murphy's order, no. The extraction on the other hand...
Arriving at Murphy's ahead of schedule, you help the old man load up his cargo onto your ship, making sure it's safely secured in the cargo hold (After all you have the paperwork to explain that. Known criminals however are more likely to use the smuggling compartments in case of emergency inspections) you sit briefly with Murphy to discuss business and potential future jobs. To your surprise, Murphy admits he's actually considering going completely legit.
"I'm getting on kid. Much as the business was good to me, I don't wanna worry about spending my twilight in a cell. I've done enough to live comfortably for the rest of my days. Anything else from now on is just asking for trouble."
"It's not gonna be the same without you. You've been one of the best in this business since people worked out how to make money off it."
"I know, I know... But there's a reason for that" He leans forward and wacks you upside the head lightly "I was the one that first worked out how to make money out'a it, you cheeky little shit!"
"True!" You concede while rubbing your head and laughing.
"Besides, just because I'm going legit, don't mean I'm not still around. I just ain't handling anything risky no more. And besides, Rosie's still running the Seamstress Union. I'll just be helping her out there most of the time. Anything like this'll be legal and on the side."
You smile and get back into your ship, flying it slowly towards the warehouse and check your scanners for anything that might cause an inconvenience later. Seeing nothing to worry about, you set the ship on auto and get up heading down to cargo bay to prep the emergency shuttle. Despite it's light amount of weaponry and armour, the shuttle's agile and and very adaptable to sudden movement shifts. After making sure it's in good working order, you check the nearby monitor and see that you're about three miles away from the warehouse with a good 45 minutes to spare and you start to think that a quick drink might be in ord-
'WHIRR!!! WHIRR!!! WHIRR!!!'
You quickly change direction, pounding up to the cock-pit and slamming yourself into the captain's chair, glancing over the scanner and your eyes early bug out. The scanner is picking up five police shuttles, holding position directly over the warehouse and bombarding it with low yield proton bombs. As you watch in horror, cracks begin to develop in the armoured shell of the warehouse. It won't be long before it's completely exposed and Isabella's men will be defenseless. You have about two minutes to work out a plan before the warehouse (and more importantly your payday!) goes up in flames.
What do you do?!
