The song stops and you step away from Brooke. "I'll pass. I prefer to fuck women who can actually remember my name."

Her words fall into a sudden silence and several people nearby turn in her direction and laugh. She blushes and storms off angrily. You turn to look for Vanessa and find her sitting with a well built young mn in some chairs against the wall. His head is bent towards hers talking to her intently. You start to approach and she looks up, shaking her head with a pleading motion. You nod and drift out of the room, heading back to the bar.

You're getting another vodka tonic when a hand touches your arm lightly. "Would you be a gentleman and buy a lady a drink? White wine?" You turn to look at the owner of the dulcet feminine voice and yourself looking at Robyn. You smile and nod and order the drink, openly admiring her sleek body. Her yoga pants and a tight sleeveless shirt show her assets off perfectly.

"I was speaking to Sondra and Faye, our pledge hostesses. Apparently you made quite an impression there," she smiles with a glint of humor in her eyes.

"A negative or a positive one?"

"A bit of both from the sounds of things. Your forthrightness offended Sondra and excited Faye."

"I don't respond well to gratuitous rudeness."

"I'd say you responded perfectly. Where is Vanessa by the way?"

"Talking to someone. I'm giving her some time."

"I see. Has she given you a tour of the house? No? Perhaps you'd allow me to show you around?" When you nod she takes your arm and guides you back into the main hall. You can see into the dance room and observe Vanessa and the young man she was speaking to dancing. As you watch for a moment, they turn and Vanessa sees you, the expression on her face one of irritation and frustration. Robyn waves at her and leads you to the stairs.
