The pretend to stretch then attack thing might have been new in 1971 but Rot suspected it was already ancient when David snuck up on Goliath. As for kicks to the balls...
He took a step to the side then drove his elbow straight down on Luke's knee.
"Kicks," Rot lectured, "are effective because your legs are longer than your arms and, of course, have more power.
He had to give Luke credit, the man shook off a strike that should have numbed his leg, then charged at Rot, his arms outstretched as if going for a tackle.
Rot flipped a backfist at Luke's nose and, when the quarterback avoided it, slammed a sidekick to Luke's already injured knee. "You see," he said, "that Luke's attention was fully on my fist, making it easy for my kick to penetrate his defenses. Of course a low kick is safer for the kicker. High kicks are generally for show."
"Don't let him do that to you," Taylor shrieked. "Cut off his balls."
Rot waited as Luke struggled back to his feet. This time the quarterback put up his fists in a boxing stance and shuffled forward doing his best to mimic a Mohammed Ali dance.
"Many of you," Rot continued, "probably thought Luke was too stupid to learn from his mistakes but you see he's making his motions small, refusing to commit his weight, and protecting his neck and head from attack. Very nice, Luke."
"Your demonic schemes will not protect you from the wrath of the lord."
"Oh, I see. Before you were just giving the Lord orders but now you are the Lord. Is that it?"
"Blasphemer."
"I'm not the one claiming to be the wrath of the Lord." The longer this went on, the more that brief moment of weirdness faded.
