What happens after the presentation?
Julia confronts Magi.
The changing room was cold and Julia wouldn't stop trembling. Wrapped in the towel, she rocked slightly, as if trying to comfort herself. When Magi entered, Julia looked up, devastated.
"You said it would be transformative," she whispered, her voice ragged from silent crying. "You said it would be art. But it was just... humiliation. Pure and simple. I felt so exposed... So violated."
Magi approached slowly, like someone nearing a wounded animal. Her own heart hammered, heavy with a guilt that threatened to drown her. She saw in Julia the reflection of her own past pain.
"I know," Magi said, and this time her voice sounded genuinely broken. "I know, Julia. The first time is... unimaginable. You feel betrayed by your own skin."
"You knew!" Julia accused, with a flash of rage. "You knew about the water! You knew it would turn transparent!"
Magi didn't deny it. She nodded slowly, letting the weight of her complicity become visible.
"I knew. And I told you. Remember? I told you the fabric was treacherous. That the water reveals everything." She paused, searching for the words May had once used on her. "But knowing it and living it... those are different things. I'm sorry. Truly."
Julia was surprised by the apology. Hope, faint and toxic, surfaced in her eyes.
"Then... can I leave? Can I break the contract?"
Magi sat down next to her on the cold bench. She took one of Julia's icy hands in hers.
"Julia, look at the contract..." she said softly. "If you leave now, not only will you not see the money... you'll also have to pay a penalty fee for non-compliance. A clause that protects the preparation costs. It would be... thousands. Which you don't have."
Julia paled, the little relief she had felt vanishing. "A penalty? But... that's..."
"Unfair," Magi completed. "Yes. It is. This world... is unfair." She squeezed her hand. "But if you stay, today's pain won't be in vain. The money will come. You'll be able to pay everything off. It will be yours. And you won't be alone. I'll be here. I'll help you endure. The way I wish someone had helped me."
It was a lie. Magi couldn't protect her. But it sounded true on her lips, imbued with her own need for redemption.
"And next time?" Julia asked, with the voice of a scared child.
"Next time you'll be more prepared," Magi murmured, stroking her hair with a tenderness she didn't feel. "You'll know what to expect. And I'll be there, watching. You're not alone in this. We'll get through it together."
Julia allowed herself to be comforted, clutching the empty promise of sisterhood like a lifeline. Magi hugged her, feeling the girl's sobs soak her shoulder. It wasn't the embrace of an ally, but of an executioner asking forgiveness of their victim before carrying out the sentence. Magi knew she was condemning her to more of the same, but her guilt and fear of May were stronger than her compassion. She had created a bond of poisoned dependence. And now, they were both trapped in the same net.

With her untamable black hair, faint freckles, and loose-fitting clothes, she projects an image of practicality and comfort. Despite her serene appearance, a deep disquiet haunts her, anticipating an imminent and inevitable change that threatens to shatter the fragile balance of her quiet life.
