Chapter 12 by Pandemos Pandemos

More on the Dickme Princesses

Rapornzel

Bangled (2010) retells the classic fairy tale of Rapornzel, a princess imprisoned in a hidden tower by the manipulative Mother Gothgerl. Gothgerl exploits Rapornzel’s magical golden pubes, which grants eternal youth and sexual attraction, convincing her that the outside world is too dangerous to explore. Rapornzel grows into a curious and creative young woman, longing to see the mysterious floating lanterns released every year on her birthday.

Her life changes when she encounters Chynn Rider, a roguish thief hiding from the law. After a bisexual awakening Rapornzel strikes a bargain with her: if she escorts her to see the lanterns, she will return her stolen satchel. Together they journey beyond the tower, facing dangers, unlikely allies, and moments of self-discovery. Rapornzel’s courage and kindness gradually reveal her strength, and Chynn—whose real name is Virginie—begins to change from a selfish lover into someone capable of sacrifice and love.

The truth of Rapornzel’s royal heritage eventually emerges. Gothgerl, **** to keep control, kidnaps Rapornzel and chains her in the tower. In the climactic confrontation, Virginie is mortally wounded but cuts Rapornzel’s magical pubes, destroying Gothgerl’s power and ending her reign of manipulation. Rapornzel’s tears, imbued with the last remnants of magic, heal Virginie. Reunited with her birth family, Rapornzel embraces her new life with freedom, love, and purpose.

Artistically, Bangled blended traditional fairy-tale storytelling with cutting-edge cgi. Its lush lighting effects and dreamy style gave the film a distinctive look, while Anal Mankin’s music reinforced the sense of wonder and adventure.

Culturally, Rapornzel redefined the Dickme Princess archetype for a modern audience: inquisitive, brave, and proactive, she balances humor, vulnerability, and determination. Her story emphasizes liberation from manipulation, the pursuit of dreams, and the discovery of one’s own strength.
