Chapter 158 by SpyralEye SpyralEye

The Retconned Life of Susan Storm

Since her ascension to the realm of singular, divine omnipotence, Wanda Maximoff had taken to exploring the numerous facets of reality. Alternate timelines and parallel realities, peaking in on them and placing her thumb on the scale, seeing what the end result would be if she did this or that. And all of it focused upon her glorious Master and what new paths he might take with his power and desire.

These dalliances into the realm of what if were always temporary, though. She would slip beyond the veil and into other worlds for but a brief spell. Brand new timelines and realities would bloom to life in the palm of her hand, only to be snuffed out or discarded just as quickly; a transient existence. But it never stopped Wanda from wondering what if she applied her hobby to the world she and her Master lived in? What if she conjured a more permanent twist of fate to his benefit and his pleasure?

What did Wanda know about Rob Daily? Well, everything, really. But at the core of it, her Master loved women - especially the women of fiction he lusted after and especially especially superheroines from American comic books (Wanda was a beneficiary of such desires). He loved to exert control and dominance over his thralls, but in a playful way where everyone enjoyed themselves. He loved ****, to a degree that would be unhealthy for a normal man, but was perfectly fine for one in his position. And he liked to imagine himself as a saviour of the women he claimed, improving their lives by offering them love and security and shielding them from the cold cruelties of their fictional wellspring.

All of that in mind, Wanda found herself a perfect guinea pig for this reality alteration project. And sure, Rob might be a little miffed that she violated one of his rules, but he would come around to it when he got to experience things in the flesh. And, after all, it was better to seek forgiveness than permission.

Wanda’s target was someone she was intimately familiar with: Susan Storm, the Invisible Woman of the Fantastic Four! Though, like all of Rob’s fictional beauties, she was pulled into this world without her male compatriots. The Fantastic Four could not exist with just one, so Sue was instead a founding member of the Avengers. She also absorbed several other traits from her nonexistent colleagues, this Sue being a celebrity scientist and entrepreneur, who used her intellect for the benefit of mankind, but preferred a quiet life out of the limelight.

She lived by herself, spent most of her time with the Future Foundation than with the Avengers, and in both regards, the Invisible Woman was almost always nowhere to be seen. Sue preferred the quiet comforts of home or a friend’s apartment to the battlefield, the press conference, or the red carpet.

But that was then, and in the now, as Wanda stood upon the threshold of Susan’s apartment in downtown Manhattan, she unleashed the full brunt of her cosmic powers, bathing the world in red, twisting space and time and reality to her whim, as she rewrote Susan Storm’s life story.

And then, the world and this woman bent like putty in her hand, Wanda politely knocked on the door, waiting for Susan to answer.

“Wanda!?” Susan gasped in astonishment, as if the witch were the last person in the world she ever expected to see. “Oh my goodness! How long has it been? How are you? Please, come in. Come in!”

They embraced as old friends finally reunited, which they were now, thanks to Wanda. Susan Storm was always a kind, gentle woman, one anyone would love to have as a friend. Gorgeous and warm with a smile that could light up a room. Wanda always found herself jealous of women like Sue, especially when she was struggling with her powers and retreated into herself. But now, Wanda having her peace and knowing her place, she could be more like the woman she idolized and have her friendship for her own.

“I have been well, Susan.” Wanda said, all charm and smiles, as she took in Sue’s sumptuous form (thank you Marvel Rivals). “Retreating from the chaos and tragedy of the hero lifestyle has done me well. For the first time in a longtime, I feel at peace.” It took Wanda a measure of restraint not to cup her baby bump - hidden from sight by her powers - the proof of the peace and love she had found.

Sue was about to respond when a young woman, tall and slender and blonde like her mother, entered from another room in the apartment.

“Okay, mom, I’m read - oh.” The young girl stopped mid-sentence and mid-step, big blue eyes locking onto Wanda and awkwardly staring at her.

“Oh, Wanda, you remember my daughter, Valeria, right?” Susan introduced the young lady to Wanda, the two standing side-by-side and looking so much alike, if only Susan wasn’t a magnet that drew all attention in the room to her, while Valeria shrank in her mother’s presence, awkwardly shuffling and turning away, looking as if she could be anywhere else. “Val, this is Wanda Maximoff, she’s an old friend of mine from the Avengers.”

“No, I remember…” Valeria mumbled, body turned into itself as she looked away and held one arm. “She was at my eighth birthday party. With all the other Avengers. She exploded the birthday cake trying to light the candles.”

Wanda chuckled softly at the mention of her past faux pas. “I had almost forgotten about that myself. You must have quite the memory, Valeria.” Valeria gave a slight smile and made a noise of recognition, but said nothing further.

“Oh, I’m sorry Wanda, but I was actually just about to leave to take Val to school.” Susan said, quickly and apologizing profusely. “I would still love to catch up with you, though. You don’t mind waiting for a few minutes - five, ten, a half hour?”

“Not at all, darling.” Wanda returned with another warm smile. “I have all the time in the world, and it makes me happy to know that you and your daughter are doing well for yourself.”

“Thank you so much, Wanda. I’ll be back shortly. Please, make yourself at home until then!”

And with that, the Storms - Susan and Valeria - hurriedly rushed out the door. Wanda purred and smirked to herself as she watched them leave.

But, wait a minute, how does Susan Storm have a daughter without a Reed Richards? Well, that was the centre of Wanda’s machinations. Because, where the Susan of Rob’s wish had pulled into reality was childless, now, things had changed.

Eighteen years ago, a twenty-four year old Susan Storm had been in the Invisible Woman for a few years now, and was growing frustrated by everything. This was before Sue found her balance, before she founded the Future Foundation to give back to society, before she put more focus on helping people, before she had realized her disdain for the limelight. Being an Avenger, being a sex symbol, being a focus of the tabloids was burning her out. So, on a whim, she decided to disguise herself and go out into the Boroughs of New York to blow off some steam. There, at a dive bar in Queens, she found a shy, anxious, overweight young man that nevertheless had a good heart and was quite the conversationalist, when he got over the fact he was speaking to a beautiful woman. The two talked for many hours and had far too many drinks, and that led to their tryst, a hazy, ****-fuelled one night stand.

Then, nine months later, Valeria Storm came along.

Knowing she had the means to support her child, Susan never once thought about discarding the unborn Valeria, and even if she was born of a tryst with a stranger, that did nothing to dampen the love Susan had for her beloved daughter. If anything, that night was one of the best nights of her life. She succeeded in her mission of blowing off steam, she was able to put things into perspective, and it gave her the most precious thing she could ever ask for in the form of her baby girl.

So now, there was Susan Storm: superhero, ex-model, scientist, philanthropist, and above all else, single mom.

And there was Valeria Storm, awkward and quiet, but also the smartest girl in the world.

But… who was Val’s father? Well, that was the true twist in Wanda’s manipulation. Because that young man that Susan ran into in Queens was a young man, despondent that his best friend was leaving for Paris to explore her modelling career, deciding to get a fake ID to drown his sorrows, and had now lost his virginity at eighteen instead of twenty-four like in the previous timeline.

Val’s father, Susan’s mystery lover, was none other than (who else?) Rob Daily!

And now that Wanda had created such a wonderfully, sinful reality, it was time. Time to reunite this family. And time to enlighten Valeria Storm to her true parentage and destiny…

This will not be the last time I thank Marvel Rivals, in either the notes or the actually story itself. Sue herself probably wouldn't be featured if not for her revamp in Rivals and the sudden outpouring of thirst posts regarding her. Maybe it's just me, even with Jessica Alba, I never considered Sue amongst the pantheon of quality beauties in Marvel, but I have had my eyes opened.

This is another segment not originally planned for Part Four (I did not have Rob and his girls having any contact with any Avenger, like with Wonder Woman and the JL) but the genesis came from discovering Valeria Richards/Storm and doing what we and Rob love - mind control ****! Wanda twisting fate to make Val Rob's actual daughter by blood just ads to the sinfulness of the whole affair. Look forward to it!
