Caitlyn interrupts you

Caitlyn runs upstairs and spots you standing there, her eyes widening as she takes in the scene. She comes to a sudden halt, her breath catching in her throat. Your mother turns to face her, her expression a mix of confusion and concern.

"What's going on here?" Caitlyn asks, her voice tinged with suspicion.

Your mother takes a step closer, her brow furrowed. "I was just talking to your brother," she says, her tone defensive. "He seemed a bit...flustered."

Caitlyn's gaze locks onto you, and you feel the weight of her stare. Her eyes narrow as she takes in your appearance, her lips parting slightly in surprise.

Caitlyn's excited about their shopping to think about anything else "Mom let's show brother what we purchased today".

Your mother looks surprised at Caitlyn's sudden enthusiasm, but she quickly recovers, a smile spreading across her face. "Oh, really? Well, I suppose that would be alright. But let's make it a surprise, hm?"

Caitlyn grins, her eyes sparkling with mischief. "You got it, Mom. Get ready for a big reveal!"

Your mother laughs, the sound light and carefree.

"Okay, we won't take long," Caitlyn says with a grin as she drags their mother into her room, the shopping bags rustling as they go.

Your mother's laughter echoes from inside the room, a sound that seems to brighten even the mundane task of unpacking new clothes. You can't help but feel a pang of jealousy at the easy camaraderie between them.
