A Confusing Situation

As their hosts depart, Lester is left confused on the bedroll.

Do what I have to do? What is Jeff talking about?

He looks down at T'salam, who remains against his chest, "Well, I guess we have little choice but to help them in return." She gazes up with her dark eyes. Something is present in her gaze that he hadn't seen before. Lester continues, "Are you having doubts about this? Because I am as well. The best action we can do right now is-"

He is cut off mid sentence as he lands on his back. Slight fear and concern cross his face as she rears over him. Her gaze remains unwavering, "Dont be afraid. I'm not going to hurt you." She starts to stroke the black fur on his chest, "Your oblivious to me. You focus on me as a sibling, not as a woman. Plus, you do your best to avoid eye contact."

He was indeed trying to avoid eye contact, his onyx eyes wandering away. Lester stops avoiding, "I...I guess I'm still scared...you really did a number on me when you turned...I'm still trying to overcome that.." She stops stroking his fur, her emotions neutral, "This isn't making you comfortable, is it?" Lester gives a small nod.

The disappointment is plain on her face as she gets off him. Lester feels like he made the wrong choice as he watches her sit beside him, depressed. "Was is it your really want, sis?....because I'm willing to-"

"Shut up!" Her outburst cuts him off. Her eyes are streaming tears but hold a rising fury, "It's always this way with you! You're always willing to do what I want! Don't you ever feel anything yourself?! Is our relationship so one-sided?!"

He didn't answer, instead breaking eye contact and staring at the ceiling. Tough choices had to be made and he felt it was too soon. He started to understand what Jeff was saying.

What did he really feel though? What was she to him?
