Underequiped Friends

They had no armor, no weapons, no supplies, or anything of value. Lester and T'salam now slept soundly together on the spare bedroll, content smiles on their faces as they hold each other under the leaf blankets. Jeff is at the workbench crafting 2 Wooden Chests to hold surplus materials and supplies.

With the rate people keep showing up, they would need it.

He places the chests and starts unloading his inventory, "Any guesses as to how they survived with nothing?" Kim is sitting on their newly changed bed sharpening her tools and arrowheads with her iron-coated arm, "No idea, but they could be similar to us. Fast regeneration, resistant to damage, slow metabolism and so on." Jeff looks over his shoulder at Kim, "You think they share the same infertility problem?" To this, Kim stops sharpening for a moment and looks at him, "Probably. We'll just have to ask them when they wake up."

Jeff looks over at them, "They could also have the same memory loss we have. Probably affects each of us differently. For you, you kept your fighting prowess but lost your ability to do basic survival. I maintained moderate techniques but thats about it. I...know that I know more but I can't get at it..." Jeff doesn't turn around as he tosses his tools towards Kim, who catches each tool and continues to sharpen, "I didn't know that my arm was hard enough to sharpen tools. It just came to me. It will probably be the same for all of us. Memories will slowly come back..."

Kim stops and Jeff stops as well. Jeff closes the chest and walks over swiftly to sit with her. He opens his arms to her and they embrace. The pain of memories returning was still fresh for both of them and it caught them off guard. After reassurance, they both look at the sleeping pair, "Do you think they will go through...what we did...the painful memories?"

Jeff slowly nods, "Yes...because that is the price of being a half-breed..."
