The Auction

We went to the BBQ and had an awesome time. Afterward the women went shopping and the guys retired inside to have our meeting. There are about forty guys in the club including myself. they ranged in age from 25 to 55. My wife's brother and father were also part of the group. During the meeting we discussed the previous year and what we were going to do in the upcoming year.

At the end of the formal meeting we had a ten minute break. Then we commenced with the auction. The auction itinerary listed all the items the were being auctioned, there was a total of 50. At the bottom there was a note that read if $10000 or more was raised that a special set of items would auctioned. During the auction every item was displayed on a large projector so everyone could get a good look at it.

We got to the last two items a 70" tv and a painting. We were at $7800 so I was worried that we were not going to make the target but then the tv went for $1500. We only needed another $700. The painting stopped at $500 but then Jim my wife Elyse's Dad bid $600 and the other guy upped to the $700 to make the target. When the painting was removed the announcer came on stage.

"Well guys we made our target so now our bonus sponsor items are up. Just a little incentive the donor has agreed that if a target amount is reach from just the bonus items then special extra bonus will offered what that bonus will be depends on how much is raised after the doubling by the sponsor. There are three different possibilities at 10, 50 and 100 thousand dollars."
