Jasmine gets the info

"Uh-huh?" Jasmine said. "Ah, that's sweet. Really? No. Really? Wow. Moment of fucking truth."

Jasmine laughed at Kathryn's description of the surprise that Hank and Veevee Menard had walked into when they had returned early from the cruise. She looked over her shoulder for Carissa, but Jasmine's sweetheart had already left the kitchen to start packing.

"But you think their daughter Lil? Yeah? Okay," Jasmine said. "I'll bring some of the orientation material, I guess."

Jasmine copied down contact information for Kathryn and Bryan's hosts and their friends.

"And Joyce Bernstein?" Jasmine said. "It'll be so cool to meet her, I love her book. And her daughter? Uh-huh? Okay." She laughed.

Jasmine looked out her kitchen window. Another sunny, warm one.

"Uh-huh?" Jasmine said. "Okay, and you're staying with their friends, the Walkers? Okay." Jasmine laughed again. "Nice way to start a visit."

Jasmine listened as Kathryn described their plans for the day. Kathryn paused for a moment, Jasmine heard some sounds in the background, and Kathryn let out a satisfied sigh.

"Hey, are you doing what I think you're doing, Kate?" Jasmine said, grinning. "Caught you. Are you blushing? No, I think it's cute you'd call me. Is Bryan in there watching you? Aw, too bad. So do we know where me and Car are staying?"

Jasmine nodded, listening.

"Okay, we picked a flight," Jasmine told Kathryn. "I'll text you the info. Sounds like you're all planning a busy day. Can someone pick us up? Uh-huh, probably. Yeah." Jasmine laughed. "Have them give me a call when there's a lull. Ah ha ha! No, that's okay. Got it. Okay."

Jasmine's voice changed, softer and more serious. "Kate? You know how worried I was, especially whe I saw the news? Yeah. Yes, I'm glad you let your mom and dad know right away. But I was really worried for you and Bryan. You're special to me. Yeah, I know all that compatibility project stuff at first, and you were number 21? That changed, you know when? No? You know, it was..." Jasmine spoke softly. "It was that night when I was crying over Carissa, and you...yeah. You knew and you understood. All the stuff I didn't know, or didn't see. Yeah."

Jasmine laughed.

"Yeah? Oh, and Carissa told me to tell you..." Jasmine began.

Carissa leaned over Jasmine's shoulder, "I've got a new toy with your name on it, Kate!" she said. "And I'm so jealous. You go on a trip with your boyfriend and fall tits first into a Love Boat party full of hot bi babes."

Kathryn's laughter echoed from the tinny little speaker of Jasmine's phone.

"Yeah, I'll text you the flight," Jasmine said. "Gotta go pack. Stay shiny, Kate. Drink plenty of fluids. Oh, it's how hot there? And with how you squirt? Heh heh.
