Teaching her

After she gets dressed, you spend twenty minutes on your computer having her go through the instructions in Word Help one step at a time while you look over her shoulder. By the end, she had notes of what to do and the beginnings of some idea of how to use Help. Once she saves the final document, she claps in excitement. She looks up at you with big green eyes, looking for approval. You smile at her and say, "Now go to your desk and send me the final copy for my approval."

The final draft came back from her done perfectly. You tell her to send it off. It's 4 o'clock so you also tell her she can go home once she finishes. You don't have anything else for her today.

You think that Meghan could be trained in other ways. She has an interesting reaction to humiliation and pain. And slowly, like a glacier, she's starting to maybe learn her job. You guess she needed the right encouragement. You head home and think of what you'll do to your wife, while you tell her about Meghan.
