You get to the party and can’t help but notice that the sun is just going down, which is really odd as you are sure it was well passed midnight. Walking in Lynn signs all of you into the costume contest and tells everyone your name is Jaylin Eve Tucker, and that you are from, “the states” which seems very odd. You smile and blush, but you aren’t really sure why. As you walk up the stairs you have to concentrate on your balance, not sure exactly when you put on 7” platform heel shiny blue and silver sandals. Lynn and Vince help you up the stairs and as you get to the top you again are a bit confused that Lynn seems to be the same height as you.

“What is happening?” You ask her.

“You are about to win at least top three in the costume contest silly, that’s what. That’s like 10,000 yen at least.”

This brightens your mood a bit, till you think over what she just said, “Wait, why yen?”

She shakes her head. “Why wouldn’t it be yen? We are in Tokyo after all.”

You try to question further, but they just yank you toward the bar and Vince orders a round of drinks. A sip of the apple flavored drink calms your nerves a bit.

A young man, that sounds Australian, cuts in and asks you to dance. You start to turn him down, but Lynn stops you and says, “She’d love to.” He takes your hand, causing you to notice your cute metallic blue nail polish, and you open your mouth to say something, he takes this as a sign, and sneaks a little kiss. Wordlessly, you are drawn away to the dance floor and are quickly surprisingly calm and happy in his arms, gliding around the floor with an amazing skill you don’t remember learning.

A few hours later they clear the floor and start to announce the contest results.
