Holy Host

The oddest location on the list is the Holy Host. Despite the name, it’s a bar. Angels followers are not able to drink. So why was he there?

It’s a short drive and I arrive there in under fifteen minutes. The bars logo is an Angel with a beer in his hand. Inside it is upscale. The colored lights are classy and the drinks are pricey.

The bartender is a blonde girl. She has the look of being a devotee of Appeal. Appeal is obsessed with looks and pleasure. It’s followers usually mirror that. Half the cities legal prostitutes are Appeals.

I saunter up to the bar and she gives me a hungry look.

“What will you be having?”

“Just a water. I’m really looking for information.”

“A shame. I’m almost done with my shift and I’d really like to get you drunk and take advantage of you.”

“I’m a Blue.” You manage to stammer.

“Mm, I’ve never fucked a Blue.”

I frown.

“Sorry about my aggressiveness. I’m Candy, Candy Apple.”

“Your name is actually Candy?”

“My mom is an Appeal. She hoped her ‘Apple’ wouldn’t fall far from the tree, so she named me Candy and you are?”

“Jenna Pearson.”

“Nice, two syllables. I bet that would sound good being screamed.”

I blush. She giggles.

“I’m looking for an Angel. I have reason to believe one came in here.”

“Yeah, I remember that. We don’t get many of his kind in here. He was meeting another Angel. They seemed to argue and he stormed out.”

“Can I see your security footage?”

“I’ll trade you. Security footage for your call number.”

Apparently she is serious about fucking me. She’s not really my type, but I want that footage.

“Here.”

Her phone beeps.

“Thanks. Now here’s the footage.”

She turns a monitor toward us and the footage rolls. I watch the dead Angel enter the bar and talk to a female Angel. I freeze the footage.

“Identify.”

A female computer voice says, “Wanda Gladstone.”

“Location of Wanda Gladstone.”

“Angel Forest Retreat.”

“I’m afraid I need to head out of the city.”

“I’m a patient girl, Jenna Pearson. I’ll call you.”
