(A Trekkie’s note: the canonical way the transporter works is it scans a person’s physical makeup, converts their body to energy and then uses that pattern as instructions to put them back together at the other end. You are the same person the entire time, not only that, you are conscious and aware the whole trip. “Unfortunately… the Enterprise were ambushed.” Dr. Crusher said, standing over him. “You we’re hurt badly… we nearly lost you mid transport…”
“I don’t feel right… I don’t want to sound like Lt. Barclay… but… wait… I don’t sound right…” Riker said “I…”
“Remember when I said we almost lost you mid transport?”
She handed him a hand mirror.
“I know this is going to scare you… but… you’re no longer yourself…”
Riker took the mirror and looked at his reflection.
“AHHHH!” He screamed with a woman’s voice…
