The tutor follows her to her bedroom

Victoria now paced up and down her bedroom; she tried to think what she could do. The tutor’s rules were impossible. She would have to escape from the house. Where could she go though? None of her friends lived nearby. The coachman would not take her anywhere. She had no money to hire a hansom. Her train of thought was interrupted by her bedroom door swinging open. Her tutor strode into the room, his face impassive.
“Victoria, I calculate that by leaving the drawing room you broke three rules, you did not call me Sir, you expressed an opinion and left the room, both without my permission. You have now broken a fourth rule, by not greeting me appropriately when I entered the room.”
“Had you stayed to listen, I would have explained the punishment that breaking the rules would bring. However, I will now give you a practical demonstration. “
“You …. You dare to enter my bedroom and … and to threaten me?” Victoria’s face was pale with anger.
“Certainly not. A threat is a warning that something may happen; your punishment is something that will happen. Now please remove your skirt and petticoats. “
“What?” Victoria could not believe her ears.
“I said remove your skirt and petticoats. For your infractions of the rules, I am going to cane your bare bottom; now either you remove your clothing or I can call Margaret and I will hold you whilst she removes your clothes. The choice is yours; I believe Margaret would quite enjoy watching me cane you. “
