What's next?
During the Math Test
Fortunately for me, my phone started working a few hours later. Unfortunately for me, it happened right in the middle of my goddamn math test.
I was knee-deep in the world of calculus, trying to figure out if a function was concave up on some interval, when all of a sudden, BEEP BEEP BEEP. I jumped in my seat, my pencil flying across the page as my heart raced.
I looked around in shock, thinking maybe some idiot had pulled the fire alarm as a **** attempt to get out of taking the exam. But as I scanned the classroom, I realized that people were staring at me, their eyes filled with annoyance and confusion. And that's when it hit me like a ton of bricks. I was the goddamn idiot who had disrupted the entire class.
I furrowed my brows, confusion swirling in my mind. What the hell was going on? Even if my phone had turned on, I didn't set any alarms for this late in the day. My ringtone definitely wasn't this loud either. I reached into my bag, trying to fish out the culprit. I fumbled around, knocking over pens and papers, all while the damn beeping continued to pierce through the silence of the classroom.
"Joe, what in the world are you doing?" Mrs. Turner's stern voice cut through the chaos, sending a shiver down my spine. Ah, Mrs. Turner, the strictest teacher in the school. She was known for her no-nonsense attitude, and damn, did she have a way of making even the most misbehaved students quake in their boots.
"I... uh... my fucking phone just suddenly started beeping, and I was trying to turn it off," I stammered, feeling her gaze boring into me. Mrs. Turner was the epitome of plain dressing, always in her neat and simple attire that somehow managed to accentuate her curves without being too obvious. It was a delicate balance, and one that fueled many a teenage fantasy.
She shot me a disapproving glare, her gaze burning into me like a laser. "Joe, we don't use that kind of language in my classroom. You better watch your mouth, young man," she reprimanded, her voice carrying a hint of seductive authority. Damn, even her scolding was turning me on.
I quickly averted my gaze, feeling a mix of shame and a simmering desire that I couldn't quite extinguish. Mrs. Turner continued with the class, but my mind was spinning with a cocktail of guilt, excitement, and an insatiable curiosity about what it would be like to have her strict demeanor directed at me in a more... intimate setting.
BEEP BEEP BEEP
The harsh noise brought be back to reality as I continued to grope around inside my bag blindly. As the seconds ticked by, my panic grew. Why couldn't I find the damn phone? And why did it choose this exact moment to turn into a screaming banshee? I could feel the eyes of my classmates boring into the back of my head, their annoyed glares burning holes into my very soul. I mentally cursed at myself for being such a clumsy idiot, wishing I could disappear into thin air.
And then, in a bizarre twist of fate, it felt like I did just that. One moment, I was frantically searching for my phone, and the next... everything changed. The world around me shifted, warping into something unrecognizable. It was like being teleported into a different reality, a place that resembled the vast expanse of space, yet somehow I could breathe without any issue. My heart raced as I looked around, my mind struggling to process the surreal scene.
The stars twinkled above me, painting the cosmic canvas with their radiant glow. Colors danced and swirled, creating a mesmerizing display that seemed to defy the laws of nature. It was as if I had stumbled upon a parallel universe, where the rules of physics were rewritten, and possibilities stretched beyond the boundaries of imagination.
But what truly boggled my mind was the sensation of weightlessness. I floated effortlessly through the air, suspended in this unknown realm. It was a freedom I had never experienced before, a liberation from the constraints of gravity that tethered me to the Earth. My body seemed to blend seamlessly with the celestial surroundings, as if I were a part of this cosmic symphony.
Amidst the breathtaking spectacle, my eyes were drawn back to my phone, which still clung tightly to my hand. The beeping had stopped, thank god, but now a new message greeted me on the screen:
[Initializing...]
It flickered with an otherworldly glow, pulsating with an unknown energy. I watched with bated breath as the phone went through a series of mysterious processes.
After what felt like an eternity, the screen finally displayed a single line of text:
[Welcome to Cerebria]
I furrowed my brow, my mind racing to make sense of what was going on. What the hell was Cerebria? And why did my phone bring me here?
