The First Boobie Trap

Quickly trying, and failing, to fix the book, your mind races as you think what could happen. You've seen strange things happen in this place and although nothing would surprise you, you have no idea what to expect. It's a situation you never wanted to be in, given what is at stake if you were to lose. You scan your eyes around the room. Nothing. Yet. The piercing silence of being all alone in this room has returned. You probably would have felt more comfortable going head-to-head against any woman in this place, including the Black Rose, instead of this game of trickery.

You think you see something dart across the room to your left, but by the time you turn, you see nothing. There still is nothing but silence. Nervous, you figure its better to get away from the book you just destroyed than to stay near it. You turn your back to the bookshelf, which had been up against a wall, and begin to walk back to the center of the library. There is a table there and a chair, and you sit down to think for a moment.

The unfortunate part is that the bookshelf you were standing in front of, was not really a bookshelf. It was a secret door, which could revolve open and shut, behind which was a room where one of Miss Parker's assistants was waiting. Waiting for a mistake that you were all to unfortunate to mistake. The female assistant was so quiet in stalking her prey, you, that you don't even realize anyone is there until you hear a footstep from right behind you.

Oh. Shit...
