SOL - Done it Again Part 7

It’s sweet of Olivia to remember that you exist once her business is all neatly finished for the night.

“I like a girl,” you tell her honestly. “And I slept with her sister.”

Olivia takes that well. “You really care about her?”

You nod. It feels strange to admit it, but you feel like you have ****. You haven’t stopped thinking about Riley since you met her. You picture her when you touch yourself or you’re with someone else, and it kills you to think about her being with anyone but you. It’s very simple, but simple is not the same as easy.

“Apologize to her. Tell her how you feel. Be better,” Olivia says without hesitation.

You’re taken aback by her bluntness, and also by the words. They seem both wise and correct.

“I can’t,” you say, picking up your second drink. “It would not be right. She’s taken.” You could still tell Riley how you feel. Tell her to leave Lara to be with you. You know that she would be tempted. Tempted enough to do it? You aren’t so sure. A part of you had hoped that after what happened while Lara was gone, Riley would make a move or give you a signal. She didn’t. She went straight back to Lara. On top of that, confessing to Riley would just put her under more pressure. You can see how fragile she is right now, and you can’t do that to her even if it’s what you need to have closure.

“That sounds difficult,” Olivia says, and she means it. Her career is her priority right now, but she’s still a person. What you’re going through is not unique. It’s happened to lots of people. You just never looked at Olivia and Riona this way before. You mostly looked at their bodies.

You sigh and smile at her. Maybe the worst part of this is how it makes you look back on other things that you’ve done. Not just what sent you to prison: your teenage years spent sleeping with every girl who caught your eye. Some of them probably had feelings for you, but once you’d gotten what you wanted you were gone. Thinking that you might have caused someone else the same pain that you’re suffering now is not a great feeling.

You down your drink.

“Oh,” Oliva says, looking startled. She’s gazing up at the second floor.

You turn to look. There are tables and booths up there. That’s the VIP area. Some paparazzi are prowling around, and there’s a lot of action—but one of the booths is occupied by a couple that you know. It’s Lara and Riley. Their dresses aren’t quite as provocative as Olivia’s, but they look incredible.

Olivia doesn’t care about them; she cares about the paparazzi. She wants those cameras on her.

“They’re on your team,” she says to you, her eyes shining with pure joy. “Let’s join them.”
