When Amanda finally arrived she was almost immediately ambushed by a pair of squealing friends. Fighting not to roll her eyes at their childish antics she asked what they were so excited about.
"Ohmygod! Ohmygod!" was all one would say. The other fanned her unattractively red face and pointed across the room frantically. 'It's... It's...." was all she could say.
A group had gathered at the other end of the room, people seemingly more excited about whoever was over there than the music and dancing. Ever curious, Amanda went over to investigate, ignoring several guys who tried to get her attention along the way, but not taking a drink from one of them without looking his way.
"What's going on?" she asked at the group, pushing aside a pair of rubberneckers.
"I hear it's some hotshot celebrity of some sort," a guy told her, giving her his best grin.
"Really?" Amanda asked, taking a gulp of her drink, and pushed forward until she could finally see the subject of the crowd's attention.
