Decline.
“Screw you,” Dago said plainly.
“Suit yourself,” Mephistopheles said airily, “God knows where you’ll end up now, but you could try to convince someone to take pity on you. Too bad it won’t be me. Take him away.”
The guards hauled Dago out of the room without much of a fight. Now that he wasn’t going have one specific pair of eyes on him, he could maybe plan an escape. He silently let himself get dragged away, watching the hallways with a discerning eye. If he could figure out this place, it’d be easier to leave once he was able.
The guards pushed him into a room after putting his hands in a pair of shackles in front of him. He was pretty sure they had no clue what ‘vampire’ meant so they broke really easily. There were a couple of people standing around in the room of various races and genders. They were all fairly attractive, or looked strong, from what Dago could see. He saw a few other people with broken shackles as well. Apparently they didn’t know how to handle some of their slaves.
Soon, all of the people whose shackles were broken were herded into another room. Dago frowned, realizing that must have been a test of strength. He glanced around at the group of evidently strong people. There were a lot less than the first room. There was a woman with a severe haircut and a shining pair of glasses walking around and inspecting each person. She had a long staff in her hand and everyone around it seemed to shy away from it, like it hurt. Dago didn’t intend on finding out what it did.
She came over to him and nodded at him. She pointed toward the second door and he walked through it, figuring she wouldn’t deign to answer any of his questions. It was an empty room this time, but he figured people would come in after him. There was a box in the middle of the room with two holes in the top. Dago came closer to it and noticed there was a sign that was about as long as his arm that said ‘Pick one’ in many languages.
Right hole or left hole in the box?
