Dago's Excellent Adventure

Chapter 1 by Suckersoprano Suckersoprano

Dago entered Lilith’s castle for the first time in about two years. Natalie had called him back about a year after he’d been turned to tell him about a couple powers he should have known about before, but hadn’t mentioned to him. Oh well, that was old news and the place still seemed pretty unfamiliar.

Dago had been turned into a vampire under a few stipulations, some given to him by Lilith, some by her protégée Natalie. Natalie was by far the more intimidating one to Dago; she had outright threatened to tear out his throat if he backstabbed Lilith. He really didn’t intend on anything of the sort, but it was a pretty clear indication of what Natalie thought of traitors. She was around 5’3” and he around 5’9”, but he had no doubt that she wouldn’t even break a sweat if she wanted to kill him.

She was hot, though, even if she was scary. She had long black hair and ice blue eyes, aiding her icy demeanor, but damn, she was hot. Dago wasn’t sure if it was worth the risk of getting burnt in that fire, but he sure as hell thought about it. She really didn’t seem to like him much, unfortunately. He might have to fix that.

He stopped in front of the drawing room that Lilith so often inhabited. He ran a hand through his own messy black hair before knocking on the door. Someone called to him and he opened it. Lilith looked a lot like Natalie in the fact that she also had long black hair, but it was impossibly long and Dago can’t recall if he ever saw the end of it. Her eyes were more of a sapphire blue and she looked a great deal ****. Unlike Natalie, she was racially ambiguous, and Natalie obviously Eastern European.

“I’m not surprised to see you here so soon,” Lilith noted with a teasing tone, “Today is the day, isn’t it?”

Dago shrugged, but couldn’t help grinning, “Did you expect me any later? I figured I’d be better off making sure everything was in order before I got myself into trouble.”

“I appreciate it. You did very well, I’ve been watching,” Lilith said with a mischievous glint in her eye.

The biggest stipulation for his recently acquired vampirism was a proof of loyalty. Dago had died suddenly, unexpectedly and before he was sentenced for his very blatant sin of lust, Natalie snatched him up and offered him this life as a demon. He was a mage in a past life, one with a rare innate power, and Lilith was trying to build an army; she was looking for people just like him. He had left some of his closest friends in the mortal plane and quickly agreed, but wanted to return to make sure they were alright. Lilith had agreed, but said he had to exercise some self-control to make sure his priorities were straight. She wanted to make sure he was going to continue to be loyal to her or suffer the consequences.

Naturally, this meant he had to be celibate or stay faithful to one person for three years. That might not seem like a lot to anyone else, but it was a frustrating experience to Dago, who hadn’t actually had a closed relationship since he was probably 16. He’d chosen the easier route and gone for staying monogamous for a little while and Lilith had chosen the victim. She had chosen Marian Havas for that task, who was thankfully close enough to Dago that having sex somewhat regularly for the past three years hadn’t been too much of a fight. He did have to keep a low profile, considering Marian was the head of an order of mages that killed demons, but they’d worked it out. The past three years could have been much worse, he knew.

“Have I fulfilled the agreement then?” Dago asked, trying not to sound too anxious.

“You have, but be aware that I’m still keeping an eye on you,” Lilith warned with a warm smile.

“Thank you,” Dago said, bowing his head respectfully, “I’m in your debt and at your service.”

“We’ll be in touch,” Lilith said, “But be careful, okay?”

Dago nodded and left the drawing room. He started walking toward the set of portals that would lead him up to the mortal plane, but he stopped and considered his options.

There were three portals in front of him. One would take him back up to the Library of the Order of Eradicto Pravus, with the mages, the other would send him to the rest of the mortal plane likely Europe, and the other would send him on the other side of the mortal plane, probably America. He could stay in Hell, as well.

Where does he go?
