Chapter 11
by ronin8
The next morning?
Wake up alone
You wake up to see Melody's empty bed. You take a glance around the dorm, but she's nowhere in sight. On the door is a note, written in her clear, curving handwriting:
"Jack,
"Alicia is taking me to the police station to file charges against Keith. I think you should do the same.
"Also, I don't want to let last night get in the way of our friendship, and I don't want our friendship to get in the way of what might be. I know that sounds confusing, but what you said before we went to sleep last night meant a lot to me. But I know I'm weak and confused right now, so I'm probably not going to sleep in the dorm for a few days while I figure things out.
"If you find another girl before I figure it out, I won't mind. I want you to be happy, Jack.
"But seriously, go down to the station and file charges. Keith did attack you, after all.
"~Melody"
You re-read the note several times, letting it all sink in. You have no idea how long you'll be without your roommate and closest friend, and that hurts just as much as the idea of being without the woman you've grown to love. But you have to admit she's right about Keith, and you're glad she's taking initiative to get the bastard out of her life permanently.
The next thing to hit you is the location of the police station - on the far end of town from the college. And you lack a car.
You hit the shower and get dressed, planning on taking the long hike across town. You step outside into the cool sunlight and start hoofing it. At the edge of campus, another moving body nearly bowls into you, but your last-second evasion startles her, causing her to trip and fall.
It takes a moment to recognize Meghan, a girl from one of your classes who often sits near you. She's dressed up in classier clothes than she usually wears, and you catch a whiff of perfume as you help her to her feet.
"I'm sorry about that...," she starts, then looks at you. "Oh! Jack.... I didn't expect to see you." She looks around nervously.
"Yeah, I've kinda got a long walk ahead of me, though. My roommate's ex tried to break in last night. I'm going to press **** charges now."
"Yeah, I heard the police were in your building last night," she says. "Um.. My car's not far from here. You want a ride, instead?"
"Oh, dear God, yes," you answer quickly. "Wait.... Your dorm building is even further from this end of campus than mine. Why are you parked on this end?"
"Because I can never get a space over there that doesn't involve everyone else hitting it with their car doors and whatever." Meghan turns and leads the way to her car - a very nice and obviously expensive sports car. The two of you climb in and drive. As you pull into the station lot, you see Alicia's car driving away. You feel bad that you couldn't have gotten there a little faster to try and talk to Melody.
You spend the better part of an hour filling out paperwork and statements while Meghan sits in the lobby. By the time you leave, your right hand feels permanently cramped into a pen-holding claw and your stomach is grumbling in protest over having been ignored. Apparently, the cute brunette driving you around heard it, and suggests lunch. You offer to pay when she pulls into a diner favored by most of the student body.
"So.... why the fancy clothes?" you finally ask as the two of you wait for your food.
"Church. My family is in town, so I went with them this morning." She laughs a little to herself and takes a drink of her soda. "I was actually in a hurry to get this stuff off. I really don't like looking this fancy." You hear a pair of soft thumps under the table as her shoes come off.
"Hope I'm not keeping you from them, then," you say. There's a small pressure against your legs as Meghan stretches her legs under the table. She smiles. You realize she has a very pretty smile.
"No, they left for home right after. So I'm free for the rest of the day." You feel pressure on your leg again. It takes more than a few moments for it to retreat, and you realize how intentional that was. You feel uncomfortable, but you don't tell her to stop, either. She shifts in her seat slightly, leaning forward at just such an angle to still appear the demure churchgoing college girl and still offer a stunning view of her cleavage. The waitress arrives with your food, interrupting your less-than-gentlemanly thoughts about Meghan's tits.
The two of you eat as you talk, trading anecdotes and, eventually, more open flirtations. You'd helped her in classes, but had never thought of her as anything other than a classmate, seeing as you'd been with Gia most of the time you'd shared with Meghan. At the back of your mind, you feel guilty about flirting with Meghan like this, but Melody's own written words come back to you.
"You... wanna just go for a drive?" Meghan offers as you pay up, keeping true to your word.
"Where to?" you ask. Meghan leads the way to her car again and starts it up.
"Nowhere in particular, just a drive." She thinks for a moment. "Well, I do know a place where we can go and just talk for a while. I know this little outcropping with a beautiful view. We'd have to go back to the college for a few minutes so I can change. It's not exactly easy to get to in a dress like this."
You agree, having nothing else planned for the day and not wanting to sit and stew in your own dorm room. She makes the drive back, this time parking in a surprisingly deserted lot near her building and inviting you up while she changes. Figuring her dorm isn't much different than yours, you follow along.
You couldn't be more wrong. Meghan's is an all-girls' dorm, with a communal shower room on each floor. The rooms are much smaller than yours, with enough space for two beds, two desks, and two dressers with a bit of footspace in between. You note on entering that only one of the two beds in Meghan's room shows signs of use.
"My roommate dropped out after a few weeks," she explains. "Nobody's moved in yet."
She also promptly starts stripping out of her church clothes, quickly leaving herself in bra and panties. You start to turn your back from long habit with Melody, but Meghan stops you.
"Oh, please. I'm not that modest, and you told me you have a girl for a roommate. It's not like I'm getting completely naked or something." She turns, showing off her perfectly-shaped ass framed in a pair of powder-blue panties. Your pants tighten at the view while she picks out a pair of well-worn jeans and a t-shirt. She turns to the side as she pulls up the jeans, stopping to adjust her panties; you're treated to a brief-but-beautiful view of her tuft of pubic hair.
She transfers a few items from her purse to a small backpack - you're almost certain you see a few condoms - and grabs a few bottles of water from the minifridge.
"Ready?" she asks as she pulls her hair into a tail.
Where does she take you?
