Chapter 13

How'd she like things?
She loved it!
Sarah smiled and grinned as big a smile as he had ever seen. "Oh my god, it's so fucking weird and fantastic, all at once!" She bounced up and down in the chair and Tom couldn't help but laugh a bit at her enthusiasm. "It was like me and not me...I could see everything, hear everything, and feel everything. I never was that limber, even at 18, as Amorina. When it was her, I could sense everything she was sensing."
Over the next half-hour, as they walked through the grocery store, the two of them were talking and catching up on what happened in the gym, namely the practice, and what she remembered about the people she was on the squad with. They ran into a few people who recognized them but it was just a simple hello, as most people saw a father and daughter going shopping and talking.
"It's strange, you're like total DILF material here."
Tom blinked a few times and looked back at Sarah who smiled smugly and gently motioned with her head off to their left. He casted his eyes and spotted a few women looking and eyeing him, something that he was not really all that aware. "Really?" he began, pushing the cart down the next aisle. "It wasn't always like this..."
"That's what you think, you just weren't that observant." Sarah had a measure of pride in her voice as they continued to move through and pick up some items off the list. "I mean, I never really had to worry but now, well, you're totally tempting a lot. Hell, what Bri and Nicki were talking about when you came out of the car, that was surprising." She placed the chili powder into the cart. "And...well..."
Tom looked up. "Sarah, good night."
She stopped in her tracks and then quietly came to stand by him as her cheerleading coach spotted them and walked over, (sauntered over, really, with the way her hips cocked out from side to side). "Hey again!"
Tom smiled and stood up straight as the woman reached them and after she said hi to Amorina, turned her attention to Tom. "I'm glad to catch you here, did you have a moment?"
He looked down at the list in his hand. "Sure, what do you need?"
She looked at Amorina who was standing rather meekly off to the side, watching and trying not to say too much or interrupt. "I wanted to ask you about the meet coming up on the 9th? We had Five Chaperones coming along but two of the fathers couldn't come. Mr. Baker and Mr. Shin couldn't make it. I know it's last minute but rules require us having 5 adults, not counting me. Do you think you could volunteer? I know it's last minute and all.."
Tom nodded. "Not a problem, I'm always willing to help." He looked at Amorina standing next to him. "She's been talking up a storm about cheer all this summer, it wouldn't be right to let their first meet go down because we didn't have enough adults, right?"
The older woman smiled and hugged him, her body pressing against his, and he wrapped his arms around her to give her a warm embrace. After a few moments, she stepped back and said her goodbye to Amorina before she turned and walked towards the deli section. Tom just glanced at his daughter, who was saying nothing, and decided not to push the issue until they were checked out, bags in the trunk, and turning onto the highway. "Sarah, wake up."
"Oh my god, she has it soooo bad for you."
Tom wondered who exactly "she" referred to but decided not to press his luck. "Sarah, good night."
The first night
