James Fitzgerald, A Teen in 1952
(Author's note, some anachronisms might occur such as some more modern colloquialisms, things that came out after 1952, etc. However, I'll try to keep to minimal)
I had just turned eighteen not even a full week before my father sat me down and told me I'd have to get my draft card so they'd ship me off to Korea. He'd never tell me himself, but I think he'd be glad to have me gone. I always knew he's more proud of my sisters than he'd ever be of me. I was a screw up and I knew it...
I dreaded the whole thing, but made it up until the physical exam. That's when I got the news that would change my life forever.
