It sounds like... a radiator?

Sam's heels clicked on the wooden floor as he made his way down the hall, trying the different doors. All so far had been locked. He was beginning to feel a little creeped out. This hallway seemed longer than he remembered. Where was the bedroom he'd seen before? Or the closet with all the female clothes? Where was Zack, or Alex? He thought about calling out for his friends, but the thought of what they'd say to see him dressed like this stopped him.

Then he heard a sound coming from a few doors ahead. A high pitched whistling. Like the radiator at his parents' place. Feeling the house's chill beginning to creep up on him again, he tried to hurry down the hall only to loose his balance in the heeled slippers. Picking himself up of the cold floor, he started traipsing forward in little steps aware of how girlish he was moving.

The door with the whistling sound was slightly ajar and a light spilled through the crack. Sam peeked through the crack, suddenly afraid of someone on the other side seeing him like this. Aside from the embarrassment of his appearance, he didn't relish trying to explain to whoever lived here why he had broken in and tried on their clothes.

The room appeared to a small kitchen, possible a servant's kitchenette. Certainly not something that would cater to a house this size. It was clearly empty but there was a small table with two chairs, a sink, and small stove on which a kettle was steaming.
