Your house (skip to after school)

“Well how about my house, I am the one inviting you so it would be rude to suggest hanging out and, just invite myself over.” You said “Besides my mom and, sisters won’t be home for a while so no one will be there to bother us there.”

“ok then” Jamie gave a small smile and a quick nod.

“I’ll meet you after school and we can walk there together.” You said as you picked up your stuff and headed to leave.

“Doug wait.” You turned around facing Jamie head slightly cocked to one side inquisitively. “Is something wrong?” you asked.

Jamie shifted her stance nervously “I just wanted to say…… thanks….. for you know….. wanting to hang out.”

You gave an friendly smile “It’s not a problem Jamie.” With that you turned to leave. “I’ll see you after school.” Jamie called after you. “See you Jamie.” You called back.

The rest of school was uneventful you did your work you got your lunch and, before you knew if it was time to leave. You got and, pushed through the swarm of students all rushing to get home. You spotted Jamie standing on the sided walk both hands clutching the strap of her bag while her head darted left and right in what you assumed was an attempt to find you. You started making your way over to her waving to get her attention. Jamie spotted you gave wave back, “H-ii Doug how was the rest of school.” she asked as you approach. “Umm it was okay nothing really interesting happened.” You replied.

“Do you have a lot of homework?” She asked in a tone that sounded like she was unsure she should even be asking. Is she still nervous around me? you thought to yourself. “Haha I said you don’t have to make small talk to me if you don’t want to Jamie, but no I don’t have homework.” you said giving a friendly laugh.

“Sorry I n-nno I mean I was just asking if you had home work cus then we could work together on it but if you don’t have any…” she trailed off.

“Well if YOU have any home work we could still work to on that together if you need help on it.” You said

“No! I mean, not if you don’t have any it wouldn’t be fair to just have you helping me if I can’t help you back I would feel guilty.” Jamie fidgeted nervously with the end of her jacket sleeve.

“Well ok then, come on let’s get going my house isn’t to far from school.”

It only took you a couple of minutes mostly walking in silence with Jamie trying to make clumsy attempts at small talk. You found her stumbling over her worlds kinda cute but you could tell was embarrassing for Jamie. Lucky you reached your home before things got too awkward.

Your mom and sisters weren’t supposed to be home for a while so the two of you should the house all to yourself.
