MR Day 10 - Friday

It's Friday.

Tiff wakes up you and your team, but... wait a minute.

"Hey," Tiff says as you're all getting up. "Where's Rebecca?"

She's not in the cabin. Everyone's confused. Tiff calls someone to get people looking for her, but the rest of you have to go on...

You start with a quick warm up, then you get a light breakfast, then a final team huddle in the locker rooms before you put on your game uniforms.

Tiff recaps yesterday's planning meetings briefly. The main concern with Team Green is the small group of military girls that all know each other. Their soccer technique isn't perfect, but they have excellent synergy and are extremely tough.

There's a sense of relief because the waiting is over. Now you just have to play... but there's still no word about Rebecca. You are seriously worried. You told Tiff about how Rebecca was like... always sneaking out and stuff, and she said that she passed that on.

You put your uniforms on and head out onto the field, where there are tons of cameras, and the bleachers are full. These are all FUTA employees and their guests... live viewership is limited while FUTA is still in this early stage.

At least half an hour of group photos, individual photos, and pre-game interviews go by before you're finally walking out there onto the field.

It's another beautiful, sunny day... but hot.

The game starts out full throttle and rough. Green Team is aggressive and focused. There's precision in everything they do... they have their playbook memorized, and they stick to it religiously.

The military girls aren't afraid to get rough, and it's making for a good show. Even the small live audience is pretty loud.

You see Michelle watching. Tiff might be your coach now, but Michelle will always be your real coach. You don't want to lose in front of her.

But you're short a good player, and it feels inevitable. Pink Team plays hard, but you only get subs for legitimate injuries, not someone being MIA.

The final score is three to one. You just don't have a chance when you're outnumbered, but you're glad you did as well as you did.

Losing sucks, but you're actually more worried about Rebecca. You and some of the others go straight to Tiff as the field is being cleared.

"OK, OK," she says. "It looks like she had a family emergency and had to go home."

"Her bag was still in the cabin," Lara points out. "Wouldn't she have taken it?"

"Like I said, apparently it was an emergency. I mean, according to Annette. Anyway, we know where she is. I'm sorry, guys. Nobody saw this coming," Tiff says.

"This is not a fair loss," Lili says angrily.

"I know. I know," Tiff looks pained. "But we're stuck. OK? But we're going to figure this out. This is why we're having this trial season, you know? To work out the bugs. Not all the ideas for this thing are good ideas. Obviously we need to do better with subs and stuff. It's OK, guys. This isn't survivor. Nobody blames you for losing, and you don't get sent home or anything."

"But we get sent somewhere," you complain.

"Yeah. I know. But you signed a contract. You all did. If you want to back out, of course you can, but..." Tiff looks helpless.

Everyone's just mad. They all get it, but still... now you lost the game and have to go... somewhere. There's a bus waiting.

You shower off, and you all get on it. You were really hoping to go to the Lodge... maybe Michelle would be there. Ugh. Rebecca better not come back.
