   “Not to contradict,” the woman said, meekly, “but I can’t recommend that. If you jump to something that she might have serious opinions on, you risk engaging moral sentiments in her that it might be preferable to have shut off for the time being. Naturally, when she is more prepared…”


 There was silence for a few seconds. “You may be right. But I feel a certain appetite. Perhaps you could fill in.”

With that, there were a few footsteps, and then a hand undid the latch that had been holding my head, and finally I could clearly the man who had been in the room this whole time.
