Chapter 4 by TeratonArm

Which game mode will you be playing?

Pokemon Legends: Embarrassment

Darkness. Swirling darkness, tints of black and blue and violet streaming in uneven, shifting patches as far as the eye can see. You almost wonder if your eyes are still closed until you look down and see your own body. An oversized white t-shirt with a logo on the front, a mediocre gift from a family member's vacation, obscured most of your frame, barely catching the curves of your fairly sizable chest while hiding the bit of pudge around your stomach. The shirt's hem comes down to the middle of a pair of plump thighs, the barest hint of blue visible from the shorts you're wearing underneath, legs and feet otherwise bare. It's a plain outfit, comfortable enough for lounging around the house, which is the last thing you remember doing before.... dreaming? You suppose you must have fallen asleep, to have wound up in a place like this.

Doesn't feel like a normal dream, though, you think, _maybe I'm lucid dreaming? _You feel a weight in your pocket, the familiar presence of your cell phone, with its worn plastic case and cracked screen, but your grip goes slack and it falls away into the void as a massive presence materializes in front of you. An ethereal white coat drapes over a vaguely equine form, tapering down to golden-tipped point at each legs, a massive golden halo around it's middle, and red eyes gazing out from the black... skin? of it's underside and face. It's..... it's.....

Oh, you think, it's just an Arceus.

That settles it on whether or not you're dreaming, you suppose. You'd just purchased the new Pokemon game and technically-not-a-spinoff, 'Pokemon Legends: Arceus' earlier that day. You remember it was taking an annoyingly long time to download, strange for your normally fast internet, and you must have dozed off while the topic was still on your mind. You don't even feel more than a mild sense of novelty and a moment of dull surprise when, with a subtle craning of it's neck, your phone floats back to you before, in a burst of light, turning into something more resembling the fictional character in front of you, screen newly intact and a big awkward golden halo on the back of the now-white plastic case.

Thanks, you say, or at least try to, with this apparently not being one of those dreams where you can get words out. Still, you manage to smile, and slowly close your eyes as you drift backwards, ready to wake up in your own bed and get to playing the game for real.

...

Any second now.

Never mind what your slowly returning senses were telling you, of a subtle breeze that very much didn't exist around your stuffy room. Of the dewy, grassy texture under your body that surely couldn't have been your musty, probably-needs-a-wash comforter. And, your room or not, you surely didn't like hearing the pitter-patter of small feet right next to your head. Opening your eyes, you blink a few times, catching some near-sunset rays of light that definitely wouldn't normally make it past the curtains in your apartment, and see three creatures huddled over you; the starter Pokemon Cyndaquill, Oshawatt, and Rowlett.

"...Okay," you say slowly, pushing up with your elbows into a sitting position. "I guess I'm still dreaming."

...still dreaming?
