Chapter 5 by Brainvamp Brainvamp

...

Permissions (Summer’s path)

As a family tradition, on their second night in a new town, the Sinclairs would normally go out to hunt as a big loving pack of bats. Tonight though, Summer is in a bit of a pickle. On one hand she does not want to miss Gabriela’s party and on the other she does not want to upset her mother.

She pushes the door to the bathroom on the first floor. Her father is cleaning some of Meredith’s blood from his face.

“Dad?”

“Yes, sweetheart?” Bob says as he starts combing his moustache

“It’s a bit embarrassing but my thrall Gabriela has invited me to a party tonight...”

Bob looks at his daughter.

“And you want to go, right?”

“Yes dad... I know that our second night in town is normally for family but ...”

“Can we make an exception?”

He hesitates for a second.

“Ok, go ahead, I will talk to your mother...”

“Thanks dad! You’re the best Lord of Darkness there is.” Summer says laying a kiss on her father’s cheek.

“I love you too sunny bunny, but be careful not to turn too many people. I’d love to enjoy this town for some time before we have to move on...”

“Promise daddy!” She says flying out the window in her tiny bat form

When Summer lands on the roof of Gabriela’s house, reverting back to her human form, the place is already upside down. Almost fifteen people are on the front loan and at least twice as many seem to be inside the house. The music is loud and the beer is flowing. Gabriela and the two new vamps are nowhere to be seen.

Two adults, Summer identifies as Gabriela’s parents, are roaming the premises picking up cups, broken plates and pizza cartons. Mere puppets now in the clutches of their vampiric daughter, they did not oppose much resistance when Gabriela asked her father for his credit card to organize the party of the century.

“Where?”

“Here!”

“When?”

“Tonight!”

“Ok Gaby, but remember, you have school tomorrow...”

Jumping from the roof, Summer lands graciously on the loan. Still no sign of her thralls. She enters the house. The place is packed. Most of the furniture has been pushed against the walls to make room for a large improvised dance floor.

“Where are those girls?” She wonders.
