Part Eight

Returning back home after spending the afternoon with Mason, Sara was surprised to get a message from Anneliese telling her to dress up and meet her at the Farmhouse, a local restaurant in the Evergreen Woods area. Slightly confused but knowing her sister might be planning something, Sara did as requested and eventually made it to the restaurant at the requested time where she found Mason at the entrance who told her that he was waiting for Molly who was supposed to be meeting him along with Anneliese and Sara.

"You know, I've never been here before," Sara said looking around the restaurant which seemed oddly empty. "The waitlist for this place is insane."

"Yeah, I've heard good things from when I've come to the city,” Mason nodded. “I don't know how our siblings were able to pull this one off. And speaking of which, where are they? And Asa? Molly said it was a treat for us to make up for being annoying siblings which I didn't believe..."

"Forget them. Where's everyone else?" Sara said as she glanced at the empty restaurant once more.

"Maybe it's a slow night?" Mason suggested.

"For the most popular restaurant in the city?" Sara commented before knowingly adding on. "You don't think Anneliese and Molly..."

"What? Set us up?" Mason said to her curiously.

"It wouldn't be the first time." Sara responded.

"Those two are something else." Sara sighed.

"Welcome to the Farmhouse. You must be Mr Anderson and Miss Rose?" The hostess, a teenager with curly, brown hair, bright hazel brown eyes, a slender body with small A-cup breasts, a perfectly sculpted, firm ass and fantastic legs that Sara and Mason knew from the area as Vicky Rosen said as she greeted them.

"That's us," Mason said.

"Your table is ready. Right this way." Vicky said before leading them across the empty restaurant to a circular table in the centre of the restaurant.

"Sorry," Sara said to the hostess as she sat down at the table. "Could you explain where everyone is? Doesn't this place have a reservation list that's longer than a soccer pitch?"

"Ah, yes, usually it's quite busy. But tonight we're closed for a private party. Yours. Mr Grayson called earlier and said he wanted a table, actually the restaurant for the two of you." Vicky explained as Mason took his seat.

"Mr Grayson?" Sara repeated. "You mean Peter, right?"

"Yes, Peter Grayson. He made the reservation. I thought you two knew." Vicky told her.

"Oh no," Both Mason and Sara said at the same time.

"This is definitely our siblings' doing," Sara murmured. "I can't believe they dragged Peter into it."

"Well, at least it's a decent place to be set up on a date. Could've been worse." Mason said as he tried to look on the bright side of the situation, spending more time with Sara.

"True. But we're going to have to get back at them for this." Sara jokingly responded.

"You know what, let's just enjoy it. Free dinner at the Farmhouse isn't something to complain about." Mason told her.

"You're right. We might as well make the best of it." Sara smiled.

“I can't believe we pulled this off.” Molly happily said as she, Anneliese and Asa sat outside on the porch of the Rigby home.

"And I hate to say it but I think you two were right. They're perfect for each other," Asa said. “I don't think I've seen Sara happier.”

"I just can't believe it worked," Anneliese said in disbelief. "And that Peter was willing to hire out the whole restaurant for them."

"When he heard it was for Sara, he didn't hesitate. He's had a soft spot for her since forever." Asa nodded. "So, what's the plan for tonight you rugrats? Are you going to spy on them or something?"

"Asa, we're not in a rom-com. Besides, they're adults. They can handle a dinner date on their own,” Molly rolled her eyes. “Actually scratch that. Sara can. Mason will probably screw it up but Sara likes him so chances are she'll overlook it." Molly added, causing everyone to laugh.

"Speaking of handling things, how are you doing with your break-up?" Molly asked the blonde. “Anneliese told me…” Molly said, answering the unspoken question of how she knew.

"Sorry, I like to gossip." Anneliese apologised to Asa.

"It's fine," Asa replied with a sigh, "I'm just tired of talking about it, you know?"

"I get it. Sometimes you need a break from your own thoughts. I guess that's why you were kissing the girl at the bonfire." Anneliese said.

"I was sort of drunk," Asa said blushing. "And trying to stop being the third wheel with Mason and Sara and trying to distract myself."

"I get that. It's a confusing time for you but you're awesome, you know that? You're beautiful, fun and wild and like the big sister I never had…” Molly told her.

“Hey! I'm right here, you know?” Anneliese shouted, feigning hurt causing the girls to laugh.

“What I'm saying is, your ex-girlfriend was an idiot to break up with you...." Molly told the blonde. “You’re amazing.”

"Yeah and you deserve someone who sees that." Anneliese nodded in agreement. “Someone who will love you and give you everything that you want because if anyone deserves happiness Asa, it’s you,”

Talking amongst each other as they glanced through the menu and then placing their orders, Sara and Mason found themselves enjoying each other's company as they ate the exquisite food and found themselves reminiscing about old times including some of the other times their sisters had tried to set them up.

“You know, we've never actually been out like this before," Mason admitted.

"You mean without Anneliese and Molly teasing the hell out of us every five minutes?" Sara commented.

"Exactly. It's weirdly peaceful." Mason laughed.

"It's nice to finally have a conversation without interruptions for once." Sara nodded in agreement. "Although, this isn't so bad. Maybe we should thank our siblings."

“Maybe. But let's not tell them that just yet." Mason chuckled.

"You know, I've been thinking about the kiss earlier," Sara admitted as the laughter died down.

"Me too," Mason softly said in agreement.

"And the one at the bonfire, if I'm being honest, it's been on my mind all night," Sara added, her eyes not leaving his.

"It's been on mine too." Mason smiled and Sara couldn't help but blush. "You know, every summer, when we'd come down here, I always looked forward to seeing you," Mason confessed. "I never knew how to tell you that and when things between us got serious when we kissed that first time, all those summers ago, I panicked. Because you're awesome. You're beautiful, caring and kind and you can draw and you're going to be a world-famous artist one day and I don't deserve you..."

"You do, Mason," Sara replied warmly. "I felt the same way. And maybe I was afraid too. That's why I didn't contact you either when you stopped talking to me. Because I was afraid of what we might be. That I could feel something for someone that was epic and if I'm being honest there's only two people in my life I've ever felt that way about."

"Two people?" Mason said curiously.

"You and Peter. But Peter is..." Sara paused, searching for the right words. "Different. We've known each other forever, but it's always been complicated. And to be honest with you, Peter and I looked down that road earlier in the year and we agreed it wasn't for us. That it wouldn't work out for a variety of different reasons. We're better off as friends."

"And what about us?" Mason said expectantly.

Sara took a deep breath, feeling the weight of her confession.

"You're not just epic, Mason. You're... everything." Sara admitted. "I feel like I've loved you for so long and I think we could be... amazing together."

"Love?" Mason said in surprise.

"Yeah," Sara murmured. "Love."

"I've loved you too, Sara," Mason finally replied, their eyes never leaving each other but instead getting lost in the moment until finally Sara spoke.

"Let's get out of here, Mason" Sara suggested, pulling Mason from her blue eyes and paying attention to what she had said and he nodded in agreement.
